Note: that the subject of the OOC posts changed again because of post splitting.

We have spent long enough without the players directly making dice rolls.  I wanted to get a sense of how you felt as players after experiencing both the game with making your roles and the game without.  Both are equally convenient to me, so don't consider my efforts as a part of your decisions.  I'll take a group poll, and decide how we are going to move forward.

I like the option to roll dice if I want to, especially in battle.

I don't recall playing without making rolls, so perhaps that was before I joined?  Anyways, I don't mind either way.

I like dice rolls as well and am OK with sending rolls to the GM.

I don't feel strongly of the matter, though, and can do either.

can you do both, leave it as an option to the player, they need to specify rolls are coming or you just go ahead and roll?

I am also open to a personal preference setup.  Hopefully it won't cause too much confusion, but if certain players don't want rolls I can try and make that work.  Another note, certainrolls I will always make to make sure the game keeps moving.  These include Sense Motive, Spot, Listen, and other rolls not request, but required, by the story.  If the player sends me a request to do a sense motive with a set of rolls, then I will use that.

Meh, it doesn't bother me, to have the GM roll for me, if need be, if I feel that there is an event that I want to make a roll I'll just go upstairs and roll a d20 in front of him.  If everyone want's too switch to a dice rolling program and email the results to Mike, that's fine with me as well.

sorry to double post, but my yahoo account got hacked, so if anyone in the group received an odd email from me, it was the person in Mexico who had hacked that account.  I've sense changed all of my email passwords just to make sure that this shouldn't happen again, but who knows.  Just letting everyone know.

The OOC post is still being used.  It causes problems with post splitting, so please use this post.

The group was in the Hunter Wraith temple because it was the option available for teleporting.  This may cause some personal issues with the characters, but its good to recognize that it wasn't forced, just the option that was followed.

If everything worked out, Animate Dead Spell (desecrated area with holy statue/alter)

Angel down to Mana: 22/55 (exhausted)

Skeleton, Exploding (1 HD) soldier, x7
Skeleton, Bloody (1 HD) archer, x6
Skeleton, Black (7 HD) leader, x1

20 HD =  7 +6 +7

Zombie, Apocalypse (4 HD) leader, x1
Zombie, Plague (2 HD) soldier, x6
Zombie, Fast (2 HD) soldier, x6

28 HD =  4 +12 +12

Temple/Cleric Bonuses:
Undead created within area gain +2 hp per HD
Undead within area gain +6 profane bonus vs positive channeled energy, +2 profane bonus on all attack rolls, damage rolls, and saving throws

48 HD Total  =  20 HD skeletons +28 HD zombies

Furthermore, anyone who casts animate dead within this area may create as many as double the normal amount of undead (that is, 4 HD per caster level rather than 2 HD per caster level).
Clr 9 + blessed +3 caster level = 12 caster level

Thanks, and yes Angel plans to leave the temple to its fate as soon as possible, and join the group, with or without a guide. He knows in the back of his thoughts that the undead are under his control and can keep track as to how many are left.

Angel was busy with the map and those interested in it such as Quinten and Smithy to hear Shyam's comment to Cal'Shir about the fall of the Wraith Temple. He just initially reacted to Cal'Shir relaying that she had a vision and to leave the church vicinity. He is glad that they were able to reach the library within a couple of hours instead of having to take a break outside somewhere.

META-GAMING: He has control over the undead he created and will know if and when they are destroyed.

Yes, and Shyam is basically reacting as she would considering that every other time she's had a vision, Angel has been one of the first (and sometimes only one) to prod her to give up details of what she saw.  So her reaction would have been the same even if he heard her or not since he is aware that she had a vision.

I didnt' say it was.

I was simply asking a question about the concept of round as this is now combat and I know that Mike has issues the last battle.  Angel can't really react to what she's doing during the same round.  And we should be finding out if either of their previously stated request or actions have an impact on the devil work in the round they occur before you you start on your next action?

Considering the fact that Shyam has sent demons away before she may just as well be able to sent it away as much as Angel can.

And while yelling and speaking is a free action, I'm sorry you can't speak a seminar in 6 seconds.  You posted that he was going to be trying to command the creature to stand down brandishing his holy symbol after he shouts at Shyam for not warning them.  Shyam is acting at the same time he's doign his command by telling the thing to go back to hell while attacking.

She would have attacked anyway, but his critisim of her simply fuled her attack as it was happening and was flavor for the attack.

Also, the use of diplomacy (which is what would be needed to command the devil) takes at least a full round to make the request of the creature.

Action: Using Diplomacy to influence a creature's attitude takes 1 minute of continuous interaction. Making a request of a creature takes 1 or more rounds of interaction, depending upon the complexity of the request. Using Diplomacy to gather information takes 1d4 hours of work searching for rumors and informants.

Here goes:

Tempus gets a +9 bonus to his initiative.

Full-round - charging and attacking the devil.

Conditions:
Charging: (+2 Attack role, -2 AC) Until EoNT
Raging: +4 Str + 4 Con -2 AC +2 Morale to Will saves  (23 rounds)
Rage power: Tempus gains an additional DR 1/-
(Gains access to Reckless Abandon and Renewed Vigor)

Reckless abandon + 3 to attack rolls - 3 to AC
Power attack: - 3 to attack rolls + 6 to damage

Attacking with +3 handaxe (magical/slashing) power attack and reckless Abandon.
Attack roll: +19 = +9 (base) + 5 (str) +3 (magical) + 2 (charging) - 3 (power attack) + 3 (reckless abandon)

Damage 1d6 + 14 =  1d6 + 3 (magical weapon) + 5 (str) + 6 (power attack)

Critical: 20/x3 Due to his killer trait, Tempus deals additional damage equal to the axes critical hit modifier whenever he succesfully criticals.

Defenses:

AC: 19 = 10 (base) + 8 (armor) + 2 (shield) + 3 (dex) + 1 (dodge)  + 2 (deflection) - 2 (rage) - 2 (charge) - 3 (reckless abandon)

DR 5/- vs lethal damage  DR 8/- vs nonlethal damage
Fire resistance 3.

Guarded Life (Ex):
If Tempus is reduced to 0hp, 9 hp of damage is immediately converted to nonlethal damage.  Tempus also immediately stabilizes.

Okay, I'm going to retract my last to two posts for Angel. Probably jumped ahead too much for game play.

He was tired and suddenly surprised by the beast, so was only able to make initial (free) reactions, and now is trying to determine how best to fight or manage this creature.

Mike, go ahead and roll initiative for me.  Angel will be delaying any of his actions due to his study of the creature, thus permitting the others and the beast a chance to go before his turn.

>>
Something was bothering the tired priest since about 10 minutes after they had started moving across the broken city, but he couldn't quite determine what. He had trudged after the others quietly, every now and then trying to determine what nagged him. He had passed it off as the effects of this depressing scenery and his exhaustion. As he was catching his breath while standing just across from the library, the annoyance burst through. He had lost all connection to his undead, apparently wiped-out. That wasn't a good sign for the Wraith Temple, much less for the administrator. He felt a deep sad loss, a loss of family, a loss of children, ...

Suddenly bursting out and shattering debris, the chained monster caught the cleric off-guard. Reactively he yells at Shyam, "This was your vision! Why didn't you say something! Warn us! Didn't you recognize this place?" Already Angel started to regret wasting time on the child. He focused his attention back to the immediate threat and attempted to determine what manner of creature this was and how best to fight it. Instinctively he reached for his holy symbol.

Mike, I cast lead blades, which changes the size of the weapon when it strikes:

School transmutation; Level ranger 1

CASTING

Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S

EFFECT

Range personal
Targets touch
Duration 1 minute/level (D)

Paizo Peripheral

This content is from material published by Paizo Publishing, LLC, but is not part of the  Pathfinder Core Rules
.

DESCRIPTION

Lead blades increases the momentum and density of your melee weapons just as they strike a foe. All melee weapons you are carrying when the spell is cast deal damage as if one size category larger than they actually are. For instance, a Medium longsword normally deals 1d8 points of damage, but it would instead deal 2d6 points of damage if benefiting from lead blades (see table below). Only you can benefit from this spell. If anyone else uses one of your weapons to make an attack it deals damage as normal for its size.

I was going to mention how happy I am that I am in a different office/city/state/country from you at the moment.  Or wondering if "anticipation" was another word for "toilet"; but in that context it's not usually associated with tinkling, rather with a different sound rhyming with flop.

But now it's not necessary.

Just curious Mike, are the dmg numbers 32/13 mean that the strike did 32, but the devil took 13?

Yeah.  The first number is the Attack roll, the second is the damage.  I just decided to see if it makes it easier to see what is going on.

Are we ready to post from the top of the initiative again, Tempus, Smithy, and Karchok?

Does Angel get any response to his diplomacy yet from the devil?

Does Angel determine any damage reduction abilities of the devil?

Tempus' battle plan is as follows:

1. Close distance to nearest target.
2. Hack it till it's dead

Angel is aware that the creature has the ability to resist damage, but not from the magical weapons employed by the group.

The devil is more of a dog than an intelligent beast.  It is a pack hunter, though.

Another charge from Tempus, so I'm reposting the details from his last round.""Here goes:

Tempus gets a +9 bonus to his initiative.

Full-round - charging and attacking the devil.

Conditions:
Charging: (+2 Attack role, -2 AC) Until EoNT
Raging: +4 Str + 4 Con -2 AC +2 Morale to Will saves  (23 rounds)
Rage power: Tempus gains an additional DR 1/-
(Gains access to Reckless Abandon and Renewed Vigor)

Reckless abandon + 3 to attack rolls - 3 to AC
Power attack: - 3 to attack rolls + 6 to damage

Attacking with +3 handaxe (magical/slashing) power attack and reckless Abandon.
Attack roll: +19 = +9 (base) + 5 (str) +3 (magical) + 2 (charging) - 3 (power attack) + 3 (reckless abandon)

Damage 1d6 + 14 =  1d6 + 3 (magical weapon) + 5 (str) + 6 (power attack)

Critical: 20/x3 Due to his killer trait, Tempus deals additional damage equal to the axes critical hit modifier whenever he succesfully criticals.

Defenses:

AC: 19 = 10 (base) + 8 (armor) + 2 (shield) + 3 (dex) + 1 (dodge)  + 2 (deflection) - 2 (rage) - 2 (charge) - 3 (reckless abandon)

DR 5/- vs lethal damage  DR 8/- vs nonlethal damage
Fire resistance 3.

Guarded Life (Ex):
If Tempus is reduced to 0hp, 9 hp of damage is immediately converted to nonlethal damage.  Tempus also immediately stabilizes.

There's a lot more going on with Angel than intended with the first post. For that initial post, my last response prior was that Angel was taking the round to remember what he could about the creature. That said, I'm okay with the the verbal call out to the beast, but not the tossing of the bag, since he would have seen some of the others attacking before then.

If he gets a free action to talk, he would have added his subsequent comments, otherwise he's still assessing the situation, and will act when he turn comes around again.

Sorry for any confusion.

I was hoping to see the clarification from Angel's action first, if possible Mike.

Jbizzle, your dodge bonus is active as long as you have your dex bonus, i.e. against all opponents.

I just took Angel's last post and used that.  Getting mixed up in which is the right one, well, that isn't my style.  I go backwards to make life easier.  Another note, last round I didn't use anyone's rolls.  I promise to use them this round.  Sorry.  :-(

Angel is still here doing his diplomacy thing with the beast and trying to convince the others to stay focused on getting to the library, not continuing a noisy disturbance by continuing to fight the beast which might bring more unwanted beasts and/or other unpleasant things. Conserve the fight and spells.

Yeah?  I am still here.  Need at least one more week.  Only 8 months left of college and this game will really pick up.  College has been my biggest issue since I go to work more than full time and college full time.  Please be patient with me.  ;-)
