Looks like Rails Hackfest is on. The winner gets a free ticket to
Railsconf Europe. Apparently, I'm currently ranked 9 for the 2 patches
that were accepted :D .. but man, Josh Peek is so far ahead of
everyone ...

Josh Peek (1973) vs Kamal Fariz (76)

That's a lot of difference.

Way to go Kamal. You made us proud!
At least there's someobody from Malaysia.

Broke the top 5 today with a test coverage patch for ActionMailer. I'm
not gunning for no. 1 (and with Josh Peek at nearly 3k points,
c'mon!), I'll be happy to settle in here for the 2 free books as
prize :)

Man, the core team is slow at accepting patches, I got a few new ones
in there just waiting ...

Anyway, not tooting my horn, just for posterity.

Open patches:
http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/8676
http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/8117
http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/6107

Accepted patches:
http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/8692
http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/8538
http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/8154

Minor patches:
http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/8153

You guys can also comment to support the patches but I think the core
team might disapprove of the cheerleading. You get +1 point for
commenting though! :)

There are a few more potential test coverage patches if I can get rcov
to work in the activerecord directory. And tons more if I can run
heckle on the entire rails codebase. So there's some Rails Love for
you guys. rcov and heckle are your best friends in this meaningless
ego contest :D

No freaking way. Broke Top 3 today with 3 minor patches (all of which
have not been accepted) and resolving one ticket.

To anyone that wants to join in on the Hackfest, I'm going to attach a
collection of rcov reports, if you are interested to create test
coverage patches. I finally got rcov working with activerecord thanks
to Coda Hale's rails_rcov plugin at http://svn.codahale.com/rails_rcov/

Whaa ..? No one took my attempt at Rails Love? Ok, here's another
method: there are a bunch of partial patches over here
http://dev.rubyonrails.org/report/23 that need tests to verify that
they are correct. Writing a test case is usually easy. Usually,
finding the right test class and method to shove in your test is the
hardest part.

And final to last update about the Rails June Hackfest, today I
reached my goal of becoming #2. And it looks like I don't even have to
wait for 3pm everyday to come around to check out the results. You can
get realtime stats from http://dev.rubyonrails.org/report/37?DATE=2007-06-01
but ignore the core team members like bitsweat and gbuesing. Hmm ..
those Pratik Naik and Matt Aimonetti guys are catching up!

Sweet! Now, you might want to reopen that ticket - it's still in
closed: untested :O

At long last, June Hackfest is done. It's a pretty nice feeling
placing third. Looking forward to see participation from Malaysia.rb
members in the coming hackfests.
