Hi everyone,

Since there is no meetup this month (due to the public holiday); I
would like to offer to give a talk
for the April 17th 2008 meetup. Hopefully Kamal can fit me in!

Title: Survey of different methods of handling missing references
Duration: ~ 15 minutes
Abstract: In Ruby you do: "foo.nil? " (There's been a stream of blog
postings on the do_or_do_not idiom recently).
What varieties of solution do other programming languages - namely
nice, C#, scala - achieve this ? I will give
the most coverage to scala's solution.

Regards,

Gavin

Hi Gavin, there will be a meetup this month. The way it works is if
the third thursday falls on a public holiday, it'll be moved to the
next Thursday. Can you make it on 28th March?

Very timely topic! On the Ruby side, I'm most interested in http://ick.rubyforge.org/

Kamal

Next thursday should be ok for me. Do we know where we're meeting
yet ?

I've just recently stumbled upon Reginald Braithwaite's (The author of
ick) blog. Good stuff.

Perhaps someone else can expand on ick and cover other Ruby's idioms
for me.
I'll focus on the other languages.

Regards,

Gavin
