I'm a newbie to maker-dome, but interested in tinkering part time.  I
took up microcontroller programming a couple years ago (Atmel AVR) and
it seemed that all the functioning shops/labs and even robotics groups
in San Diego County were downtown; too far for me to have anything
like regular contact with.  Today, I find this group and see a thread
where two active members are reportedly in north county (Escondido and
Encinitas).  I'm right in the middle - as far south in Oceanside as
one can be.  Hooray!

I didn't see an orientation or clear signs of where people meet or
work, so I'm interested in learning that.  Also, I see that MakerPlace
opened up.  Is this group primarily aimed at creating a non-profit
space/lab for members and community (like MakerPlace seems to be
oriented) or more loosely supporting the tinkering of members of the
group?

I am in sabre springs. Makerplace is not just non profit. It'd fir
tinkerers even more.
