I have a design for a beer tap handle.
I did it in Google Scketchup. The colors selected were just for use
while drawing.
The handle is three parts and is fastened together with bolts.
I would like comments on its printibility and ways I can improve the
design to get away from a blocky appearance.
I also would like ot know how to minimize appearance of the vertical
seam.
A 5/16-inch coupling nut is glued into the bottom.
I have since determined that beer taps handles are mounted onto
3/8"-16 UNC studs., so... I will have to increase that size. Or
simply make space for this ferule.

Here is the base. http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=92efbf56f518043571e3b618594fddfc
Here is the handle part. http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=7416750d430b84db71e3b618594fddfc

Send me an email of you want the Sketchup file with the three parts
assembled.

FYI Tap handles with beer company logos sell for about $20 and
novelty tap handles are about are about $40. I would be interested in
eventually printing two sets of this tap handle. One to test and
paint and another to incorporate improvements.

Thanks,
Derek

Derek,

Download Pronterface and configure SFACT (easy skeinforge). See if you
can slice it up and generate gcode.

I also use replicatorG to make sure that the model is resting on the surface.

Thanks Richard. I will try that software.

Also, I decided on a first print I would use thinner material to
reduce time/material and then determine where is needs additional
material.
In case it is not obvious, my idea for the two part top was to cover
the smooth back of the print and two identical prints was an idea. I
realize there is no economy in two identical printed items in one
design.
Also, I need a surface at the top that is easier on the hands (i.e.
round) at the top where the handle is pulled. A longer handle will
also be easier to pull
Regards, Derek

From what I've seen in the warehouse, it looks printable.
