I'm using an M2.

I had the extruder heated up to 185 C and the extrusion of the filament began to work until I heard a bad grinding sound from the gear.  I reversed the filament and tried again with the same result.  I reversed the filament and then removed the fans.  There were some PLA shards around the gear, so I removed the plastic housing that holds the extruder, cleaned the gear, and then cleaned the plastic housing.  Same result on attempt #2.

I took off the plastic housing again, and then saw that the PLA filament appears to have broken off inside the feed channel *below* the gear and above the extruder.  The remaining PLA filament is flush with the housing and I can't grab it to remove it.

The printer is still apart.

Is there any way to remove the broken filament from this feed channel?

I think I'm in deep trouble with this.

There is a small opening where the hot end meets the filament drive - you can slide a small screw driver or exacto blade in there and cut the filament. Then you can pop out the hot end and clear out the filament drive. It is easier to do this if you remove the filament drive by disconnecting the wires and then remove the three long screws that hold the filament drive in place. After you clear it out, put the filament drive on and feed fresh filament.

Rick,

I was able to push out the clogged plastic with a small allen wrench.  I'm trying the printer now after putting it back together.

Thank you for your help
