Hi,

I installed yesterday ReplicatorG + Sailfish following the instructions from Henry Thomas (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:61022) and now I can't print anymore...
I'm not sure if the problems comes from the installation or not... Any advice would be appreciate.

Thank you so much ;)

PS: i have already remove the little piece in metal from the x-stepper side.

[This message really belongs on the jetty-firmware mailing list and not
the makerbot-operators list.]

Did you reset to factory defaults FROM REPG after installing? (Resetting from the
LCD panel is NOT a reset to factory defaults).

Afterwords, did you then connect from RepG over USB and allow it to upload
information from the machine definition?

Are you using RepG 40r19 - Sailfish? (Which resolves a longstanding bug
in RepG as regards setting incorrect values for the endstop inversion in Replicators)?
Whereabouts of RepG 40r19 - Sailfish was posted to the jetty-firmware mailing
list. Actually this is resolved in 40r18, also posted about on the jetty-firmware
mailing list.]

From RepG's Machine > Onboard Preferences, you should see a screen like that below.
Note the "invert endstops" setting.  You won't see the "Emergency endstop" field
in RepG 40r18 or later -- Replicators never had one and that was part of the RepG
bug (it was overwriting the endstop inversion field with the non-existent emergency
endstop setting).

Thank you for your help Dan,

Yes I made a reset after installing and yes I committ my changes via USB.
But no I'm on RepG 40r17 so I probably need to upgrade to r19. Is it the same procedure? Can I just uninstall the previous version and install the new one or is there an upgrade option?

Btw, I maybe figure out where the problem is... I think that normally there must be a little red led on the x-axes stepper but it seem's that this led is off all the time even if I push on the little button with my finger. Is it normal?

Thank you again.

Yes, I just got to a location where I could look again at the video and
was about to send mail: I do not see a glow from that red LED in the
video. That means -- and now you have confirmed -- that the endstop
is not triggering. Likely this means that you need to realign your
gantry as per MBI's directions,

http://www.makerbot.com/support/replicator/troubleshooting/gantry/

There's a Rep 2 specific video linked to from

http://www.makerbot.com/support/replicator2/troubleshooting/

Otherwise, check the endstop cable
to make sure it is firmly connected at the endstop and motherboard.
Failing that, you have a bad endstop cable or a bad endstop. This has
nothing to do with the firmware -- the firmware has no control over that
LED. The LED is controlled entirely by that little endstop board with
the switch.

Most likely this is the common gantry alignment issue which comes up.

I saw the video too and I will try it right now.
Keep you in touch ;)

So i update my version to RepG 40r19 and unfortunately it do not resolve my problem.
I try to realign the gantry following video from Makerbot, not easy btw, and i do not resolve my problem as well  BUT... it seem's that the problem is coming from there because when I push/pull a little bit the x-axes stepper motor manually (the right side), then everything comes ok. Do I have other option or the realignement process for the gantry is really hard to fix? (try for almost 2 hours...)

If you push the little button on the X axis endstop, it lights up? Reliably?

If the extruder carriage reaches there and presses but it doesn't light up,
then see if there's a tiny gap. If there is a tiny gap then that's a gantry
alignment issue or similar and you may need help from MBI support to correct.
If there is no gap then your endstop or endstop cable is going bad. Again,
you'd need to contact MBI support.

Some people have added a tab back to that microswitch. Wingcommander did
so with the tail clipped off of a wire tie. (He's shown photos of it in the
past, but you'd have to search a bit and being from Australia, he possibly
called it something other than a wire tie or zip tie.) Adding a tab makes
it easier for the extruder carriage, even when misaligned, to trip the
switch. However, it shouldn't be necessary to add one.

And, this has nothing whatsoever to do with ReplicatorG or Sailfish. If
the LED isn't lighting then either the carriage is not engaging the switch
(gap) or the endstop/cable is flaky.

ok thank you Dan.
I will make more tests and come back here with a new post if the problem persist  ;)

Thanks a lot,

In the past some folks have had that little microswitch bend upwards a bit
away from its circuit board. When it does that, it does not present properly
to the extruder carriage. The switch itself is not screwed down to it's little
circuit board. Instead, it's merely affixed by the three soldered leads. It can
thus bend upwards. (Or simply not be manufactured correctly.)

So, another thing to check.
