A 3D printer where the extruder moves on the y-axis and the platform
does x and z. your thoughts on the effect on speed, accuracy, etc.?

FWIW, that's not a new configuration. The Makergear Mosaic works the same way
and likely other printers as well.

Yep.. I think UP! (www.pp3dp.com) was the first to do this in the home printer market.

Anvbody seen a print from this? I forgot all about it but remember the kickstarter. The young girl in the videos creeps me out but that DOES look like a sturdy box. I'm curious to see retraction work on this guy. Some of the videos are fun, I want the CNC he has making these things!

I remember the SUMPOD coming up in my research for my next printer to
replace/augment my cupcake. The MDF concept was intruiging but makes
the bot "fat". Honestly I'd buy a Mosaic as its "tested" and has
excellent print quality for the lack of complexity. Decent speed too.

I haven't.. There was some drama last year when batch-1 slipped schedule - people thinking it was a scam &c.. I sorta had the impression that the maker was well-intentioned but a bit over his head.

Looking through the youtube, it looks like they're shipping but may be having some startup issues.

My only issue with Mosiac is the 5x5 print area. Aside from that, it's a beautiful machine!
