Subject: Questions on Replicator 2

I just received a Replicator 2 and set it up.  I am having a bit of
difficulty printing a part I have created in Vectorworks.  I have several
questions.  I would normally call Makerbot, but I think they have other
issues on their mind since Sandy.

1)  The PLA wants to stick to the acrylic bed.  I tried using the blue
tape, but it wants to stick to that too.  I mean stick so much that it is
difficult to remove the part.  Any suggestions?

2) The extruder nozzle seems to be putting out a lot more PLA than it
should.  When the extruder moves across the bed, it leaves a think trail of
PLA.  I am running it at the default of 230 C.  Any suggestions on how to
stop this.

3)  I am trying to print out a small object.  The settings I am using are:
  Quality: high

The piece is a 1" tall cylinder-like thing, but when it is printed, it
looks like it is the Leaning Tower of Pizza.

Any idea what is causing this?

Thanks in advance.

Steve

Share a pic of this and the *.stl file so we could be sure because there
are several possible scenarios;

1. Your object leans because it is not centered on the build platform on
replicatorg and part of it is actually below the platform with the whole
thing at an angle. Just because it was oriented right in your CAD program
doesn't mean that replicatorg will orient it the same way (also applies to
makerware).
2. support structure on one side has collapsed. redesign with sturdier
designed in support structures instead of the automatic structures made by
replicatorg/makerware.
3. warping due to uneven cooling. print Thingiverse 29493<http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:29493>

I have attached a picture of the object.

My new Replicator 2 had a loose Y-axis belt. It would skip teeth every few
layers, creating a leaning part. Make sure your belts are tight and the
grub screws on the axis gears (the gears that drive the belts) are tight
too.
