I switched for 8mm stainless steel rods seven months ago.... no
problems and no corrosions so far... Its great...

I use the 8mm stainless fine thread (1mm pitch) for my CupCake. No problems so far, except for Z axis correction for rotational/linear differences.

Yes, you do have to replace the nuts and recalculate all of the Z-axis movements.  But it is just a single coefficient that needs to be changed. Even though they are 303 stainless, I still lubricate them with way oil. Don't like to have unprotected metal.

I think mine would be an exact replacement for the original ones. I wouldn’t want to have to make any adjustments. I would then have to change the nuts also I think.
