Hello all,
I just bought the MakerBot LED Strip v1.1. I can see where the LED's
versus the resistors are supposed to be soldered onto the board - but
I don't know about the orientation. It's my understanding that the
resistors can be installed in any orientation, but that polarity is
important for the LED's.
Keep in mind I'm a total newb when it comes to soldering. I can see
that LED's have a lead that's longer than the other.
Let me know if a picture would help you help me. :)
Thanks in advance!

One of the sides of each LED should have a little flat spot on it.  That's the negative lead.  The silk screen of the LEDs on the strip should have a similar flat spot.  Just line them up.

(scroll down a bit and look at the line drawings)

I don't have one of the LED strips nearby to double check, so I'm making an assumption that it's laid out in a normal fashion.

The board definitely has flat spots on the silk screen to line up with
those on the LEDs.

@JohnA, @Theron Trowbridge:
Thank you both so much! I kept examining the leads on the LED closely
trying to see how the metal lead was flat in any way. In my scrutiny,
I completely missed out on the actual plastic part of the LED being
flattened slightly on one side - that matches perfectly the nearly
round part on the silk screen on the board. Talk about missing the
forest for the trees!
I'm going to take pictures of all of this and put it up on the wiki to
help other newbs.
Thanks again guys!!!
