Maker Faire NYC: 3D Printer Village 2011

After our great turnout in 2010, we're back again with the 3D Printer
Village for Maker Faire NYC 2011. The event will be 9/17 - 9/18.

Last year we had more than 20 people printing all weekend, Andrew and
Catarina built a cupcake + frostruder which we gave away as a prize,
we won a ton of Editor's Choice awards, and we got covered in all
kinds of press. Our tent was 20' x 40' -- the largest single group
tent at the whole Faire. MakerBots, RepRaps, Ultimakers, RepStraps,
and every other kind of DIY printers are all welcome.

I'm expecting 2011 to be bigger and better!

We're waiting on final word from the MF staff about the best way to
sign up for Maker Faire and indicate that you want to be part of the
3DPV, but I should have clarification in the next day or two. Anyone
who's definitely interested -- drop me an email and I'll start a list
up.

Excellent! I'm in! (and private reply sent.)

To anyone on the list in the Central Ohio area, I'm hoping to organize
a road trip from Columbus to depart late-Thursday/early-Friday (it's
about 10-11 hours each way) to arrive in time to be there for setup
and the Friday evening activities.

Ok, I'll update the website and other links tomorrow when I'm back in
the states, but here's what we need for now.

Anyone who wants to sign up and be in the 3d printer village - go do
the Call for Makers now! When you sign up, make sure to put a
desciption of what you'll bring / show, since that goes on the poster
that they'll give you:

Make sure when you sign up that you list somewhere that you'll be part
of the 3d printer village. Before the show we have to do a lot of
space and power planning, so knowing who is coming is key.

Last year we had 20+ printers and got rave reviews. I'd love to see
that size or bigger again this year.

If you sign up, drop me an email so I can keep my list updated as
well. Once we have a list of attendees we can take the planning off-
list and organize via 3dprinterforum.org or email.
