Hi! I was attempting to program my Minimalist Unicorn Controller
(http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4266) but it hasn't been going too
well. Here's a video of what's going on: http://vimeo.com/32587915

When I plug it in to the computer (the board is being powered from the
USBtinyISP), its Debug LED flashes continuously (it doesn't look like
flashing on he video). The schematic says that the Debug LED is
connected to PB5(SCK) on the ATMega168. When I try to upload the
Arduino bootleader, it fails, saying that it can't initialize the
device. The same thing happens with avrdude. This is the second time
I've built the board and the second time I've had this problem. The
schematics are basically the Extruder Controller 2.2 schematics minus
a bunch of unnecessary sections (this thing is designed to be a single-
purpose Unicorn controller).

Am I just an AVR n00b or has my assembly gone wrong? Any help is
appreciated.

I've had a similar problem loading up the arduino boot loader on a circuit I did a few weeks back. First time building up from bare chip to an arduino based circuit on custom pcb. I ended up fixings problem by powering the board via separate 5v input instead of relying on the usbtinyisp I was using. Not sure if it just can't supply the power needed or something else. I remember there was a jumper in the tinyisp but can't remember what it does or if it is related. But adding in a 5v from another source fixed it right up and I was able to do the bootloader no problem. Take it away and similar problems. It's worth a shot.
