Hiya,

With some fun assistance from my daughter, we got our Cupcake (#326, Batch
VII) printing yesterday...

Bit more tweaking/fettling to do - suffer from pauses in long builds for one,
need to fit endstops and tidy up wiring for another.

But man, what a cool bit of kit...

Props to sconklin for some hints and tips along the way as well as to all
those who have contributed to the wiki.

Cheers,
Hugh

Noise suppression on the gearmotor fixed this completely for me. I
used one of the makerbot kits I had laying around from before.

Mine also did her best to help, but given she is only a year it mostly
consisted of shouting "Ha!" :-)

I don't know if this is a red herring, but with Marc Alexander's
Cupcake has this problem when building using the FTDI cable but never
does it when building from the SD card. His preferred build method is
now to "build to file", copy the file to the SD card, put the card
back in the bot and then select the object from the "build from card"
menu.

Cheers :-)

Another point of data from me... I used to pause a lot building on the
cable so went to exclusive SD builds. But I tried the serial cable
again the other day and it worked fine, even with dense curvy prints.
The only difference I could think of is that I used to build with a
lamp pointed at my Makerbot that uses a compact fluorescent lamp (CFL)
which are notorious for emitting electromagnetic interference. I have
wired LED lights in the bot itself now and so don't use CFL lamps near
it during builds any more.

So, another bot whose pausing problems are fixed by reducing EMI.

How about turning the CFL on/off again a few times and and see if the problem aligns.
