Finishing Cupcake Mk6+ upgrade?

Sorry, but I need help catching up on the current state of cupcake land. I have done some searching, but I would like confirmation before I restart bot surgery.

 

I started upgrading my cupcake ultimate with ABP to; a Mk6+ stepstruder on 3mm ABS, MB v3.3 stepper driver, safety cutoff, and 3G5D shield - but I haven't touched it or these discussions in almost a year. I notice that the Jetty firmware seems to have matured into Sailfish now. I have installed the latest RepG. I have found the zip files of the wiki for how to assemble stuff. Polulu drivers were perpetually out of stock when I bought this upgrade, so I would rather stay with MB Gen3 electronics at least until I get it printing again. I am running the thermistor with the cartridge heater on the Mk6+, I don't have the electronics for the thermocouple.

 

Is this a supported configuration, or do I need to make further changes before it will print easily? Any other developments that I need to look into? My goal is something that works without too much fussing around, well for a cupcake at least. I probably still have 4.5Kg of the original 5Kg of plastic that I bought 2.5 years ago. Not good!

You can easily run the Sailfish 5D shield firmware with that config.
Your chosen driver (be sure to download rep-g from the sailfish thing
on thingiverse) would be:
3G 5D Cupcake+ABP (Gen3AXZ, MK5/6+Gen4 extruder, Sailfish)

It should work out of the box. Then, don;t forget, use SF50 as the
generator and choose the T-O-M default profile for gcode generation.
As another note, you then need to copy correct start and end gcode to
that profile, most of us use the T-O-M codes from an SF35 profile.
Hopefully, you've got endstops set up and that would be a really nice
printing bot, I know I have 2 of them. In fact, I can't bring myself
to get rid of them because it prints so well. Small build area, but
extremely reliable. I should note they have every upgrade, printed Z
stage, printed x-y stage, stainess rods, acrylic case, etc. THe
biggest and best fix was the Twotimes Z and X-Y stages with Z being
the most important. I also use the T-O-M leadscrew motor on Z but have
done it with a normal 8mm allthread and nut.

Plus, I designed this upgrade specifically for the hardware you have
(MK6+, Gen3 with 5D) http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:35372
In fact, in your case, you only need to upgrade X and Y motors
(probably z while you're at it), and buy 2 belts as it uses the Xbelt
and Z belt and pulleys you already own.
Hands down, the most insane upgrade you could make. Go from 10mm x
100mm and maybe 150mm tall to full 230x230x230mm build area!

Just ask Bluemetal who just got his up and running.

Thanks a ton! Yeah that was the driver that I chose. I downloaded the Sailfish wiki and did the changes to the profile in RepG. However, I can't find anything on copying Gcode from one profile to another? On that point, I can't find the profiles at all on my Win7x64 PC - only example start and end gcode files.

I will look into endstops et al after I get it running. Twotimes seems to have been erased from thingiverse? His wobble arresters certainly don't exist any more, and that username doesn't either?

Aha! I had to select SF35 in RepG and duplicate the TOM profile to find a TOM SF35 profile to copy from. So, just copy the start.gcode and end.gcode files over from that? It will be looking for end stops won't it?

Word of warning, the instructions are a bit outdated and use linear bearings now so you should get 2 8mm rods 10in long and 4 lm8uu linear bearings.

My first printed mods will be the wobble arrestors and lowrider. I have seen various derivatives of your wobble arrestors on thingiverse. Yeah but no on the Z-rider, thanks.
