How ugly is the piece printed? can you post a photo?

hi so as you can see there is no resolution to this. although larger items i am printing have turned out completly fine

Which version of skeinforge are you using?  35 is probably the best bet.   Also do you have cool turned on?

I think your print is too hot and too fast, causing the object to turn into mush.  When I printed the heart gears, I had set cool to 20 seconds per layer -- it was agonizingly slow near the top -- but the result was more than worth it.  Without cool, it didn't turn out so well.

Hey, I recognize that thing.

The king and queen on that set are by far the most complex and prone to failure. That said what you've got there is uber-ugly.

Now I was getting stuff like that when I turned on the skin plugin in skienforge. Maybe it's something similar, a plug-in that isn't on by default that you turn on or that is that you turned off. I'd start there. It may also be temperature.

You might want to explore Jetty firmware for the ThingOMatic and also Cura.  Better firmware/software is the key.
