I thought I would post something the opposite of a complaint…..

I have a Rep-1-Dual – I never upgraded the firmware since I got it last year.  It has been a work-horse, cranking out 100’s of parts since then….made a few mods and tweaks here and there like adding a hood and sides, and extruder mods.  Never a firmware update though.  Stayed on 5.4.

Today…I made the quantum leap to Sailfish.  I followed the instructions exactly.  Took me about an hour to upgrade everything.  Fired off a 20mm calibration cube at 100mm/sec.  WOW!  It is a whole new machine!  The process was totally seamless, and easy.  Everything worked perfectly the first time.  It took about 7 minutes to print a 20mm cal cube with 20% infill, and 2 shells, 0.2mm layer height.

Dan…I totally applaud your and others effort on this stuff….just amazing what a difference Sailfish makes to the machine.  I am completely stoked and looking forward to playing with what feels like a brand-new machine tomorrow.

Really awesome work.

Thanks,

-Ted

Good to hear giving me more confidence to give it a try. Have you tried makerware with it?... Or just repG?

I'm still on 5.5 myself, planning on going to sailfish after I do some hardware upgrades and replacements.

Nice to hear of your success, plan on following instructions very closely too!
