I have been wondering the same thing. I'd like a dock for my nexus but lack the cad design skills! I could probably knock out what you are asking for. I can do simple structural designs. Write out some details or maybe upload a sketch depicting the concept design and maybe i or someone can make it for you. If someone out there reading this would like to design a Nexus One dock that accepts there standard micro usb connector, I would love it!
Cheers!

I am always willing to lend my CAD services to the community. If you
give me a detailed description possibly with pictures I can try and
work something out. for you guys. P.M. me lats talk.

Wow thanks Matthew! Ill get a mock up made and post it here. Oh so excited! :)

I just designed it last night and printed it out today. It's a bit
thick because I wanted to be able to pass through a USB cable that I
already owned, instead of having to source one that could be embedded
in the dock. Plus, those micro USB connectors have such a high
holding force that even getting them plugged in is tough.

Unfortunately the Nexus One has the micro-USB port in a sane place,
unlike the Droid. :-)
I'm also working on a Nexus dock, so if I get it working I'll post it.

Hopefully these images from picasa show up. I have no idea how to
post images into thread here!

The concept looks real good I like it. One thing, what file formats
can blender export? Pro/E does not seem to like the .stl file if you
can export a STEP file that would work better for me.
I would also need details on the MicroUSB connector you plan on using.

Thanks for the dimensions. I'll work something up this weekend and
send it to you for testing.
I apologize that it has taken me this long to get back to you guys;
I've been overloaded at work and everyone including our VP of
Engineering wants to see my bot which has kept me busy during the
evenings with demos but at least it's kept me printing.

LOL! No worries Matthew. I understand. There is no time to rest in the life of an engineer. I have been relatively overloaded as well. Anything you can come up with is well appreciated. I am printing a copy of my design now. Check attachment for progress. It wont work as a charging dock but it'll hold it up for clock mode or something. :)
I'm dissappointed with the amount of warping. Looking forward to building a heated chamber.
Cheers,

A Google NexusOne Dock.
Unsure if this post might rip a hole in the space time continuum, but
be careful you could get caught in a link loop ;)
I think it would be awesome to add a request feature to Thingiverse
where people could request items to be designed and someone like
myself with CAD skills could check a special page and design it up for
them based on their description. A lot of people have great ideas but
don't have the skills to turn them into a physical object, that's
where people like me can help.
Riley Porter and I had also discussed this with trading of services
too, I have access to a Bridgeport Mill and he has access to an Epilog
Laser. I machined an extruder mount for him and he in return is
cutting me parts for a Paxtruder.
Would be interesting to see what Bre and the Thingiverse folks think
about this?
