anybody else have any parts missing in batch 9? All the endstops and 4
of the 8 lasercut z brackets were not in my box. I sent a few emails
yesterday and today and have not received any response yet so I figure
I'd post something here. Its killing me that I have been waiting so
long and dont know when I will ever get the rest of my makerbot. Sorry
my 1st post is not something positive. I am really glad that there is
a good group of people here to get me through my makerbot build.
Anybody have any tips for when I get the rest of my parts and can
start building my bot?
So far I have seen a few posts on doing a heated build platform. I
have a peltier tec and would like to know the optimal temp I should be
aiming for. Anybody know?
thanks
Bryan

A coworker of mine also just received one without the endstop cards.  There are only 4 Z brackets; the wiki is misleading.

Or, I should say, there are only 4 U-shaped brackets for the build platform and 4 non-u-shaped for the top of the machine.

Good to know that the only thing missing was the endstops. At least I
can build the body now. I can't wait to get my bot printing
thanks

Yeah, i'm missing my end stops too. I've just sent Makerbot an email
to let them know.

Missing End stops also, and the 8 bearings. I just went to the local
skate store to get them. You don't need the end stops to print, just
continue the build and put them on when they send them out.

Got to love the growing pains of a new company :) Trust me they will
make everything right.

Yeah my batch 9 order was missing the endstops too. I got a
USBtinyISP kit in the bag instead of the endstops... I sent them an
email the other day and they're sending them to me, so I'd say just be
patient.

Hey Bryan,

Just got your email and responded to it. In the hurry to get the last of batch 9 out to arrive before the holiday, there are a few bots that slipped by us without endstops and we're sending them out when people let us know. They are not vital to the operation of a MakerBot, so go forward and make your machine!

I was wondering why the adafruit kit was in there. Is it needed for
anything? I was going to buy 1 anyway but ended up going with the
sparkfun 1 based on the same design. Now I have 2 tinyusb avr
programmers. Sweet. After going through about 200 of the posts on this
forum I did see that the x and y endstops aren't really needed but
most would use the z axis ones. I forgot what post it was but somebody
said it was a PITA to install them after he built it. My day off is
tomorrow and I had planned on building my bot but would like a little
more info before I put it together and find the z axis endstops are a
PITA. I think im going to do my painting tomorrow and do the build on
sunday. Thanks for all the responses I am glad to know I am not the
only 1to have the endstops missing. I have been pulling my hair out
thinking it could be weeks for me to get my 1000 investment up and
running. The 23 days I have been waiting so far are about to be my
ending. I know that they will make things right and can't wait for the
next model and improvements to trickle down to us.
thanks

Thanks Bre

Im so glad to see makerbot doing so well. I have to mention that you
have been a great inspiration to me. The build your own pcb vid that
you did made me jump for joy. I didnt know that tech was accessible to
me. Well thanks for the reply and good luck with your company

Cool, so all good with the brackets and endstops needed, yes?

I think so as the z brackets I only need 4 and that is what I have so
it seems the only thing lacking is the endstops so I guess i'll be
building and hopefully printing by monday. My birthday is new years
eve so my makerbot was kind of a bday present. With this new info I
should be able to print some cool stuff for my bday and the next
decade seems like its going to be a whole lot brighter
thanks again

Haha, right!
Well, I've been printing all this time without endstops. If the 'bot freaks out and starts bashing the walls, I just reset it.

I do wish I had good z-brackets, however. I'm really tired of
re-leveling the z platform.

Unlike folks like me who were confused and expected the opto flags, it
sounds like some of the latest may be missing the pcb kits.

Sorry, what I meant was the Z-brackets:

Sorry, I was thinking z endstop mounts not the z-level brackets.

Hey,
Just an update on the missing endstop kits. Makerbot ind was right on
to it and sorted it out. I'm really happy with the communication I've
had with them too. They're continuing to show that they are a company
that I'll go out of my way to buy from.
Cheers,
John
