The schematic shows no over-voltage, or reverse polarity protection of
the 24V inside the Replicator. Even though it doesn't have those
protections I personally wouldn't hesitate trying a different power
supply if it had the same voltage and current rating, but do things
like that all the time in my "normal" job.

Talk to support, they might be able to get you a new power supply
fairly quickly. I had mine stop working on me after a few hours of
printing and they cross shipped a replacement to me.

There's a few places that sell the same power supply, too.

Thanks for your responses. I think I will actually wait for the exchange to come, although it might take a while until it arrives here in germany.
The same PS can be obtained at mouser btw but it still comes 100 € (130$).
