> Weather:
> Clear skies, cold temperatures, and a moderate northwest wind were part of
> a seasonal day of hawk watching at Bradbury Mountain. Early in the count
> winds were near calm and picked up as the day continued. In the
> mid-afternoon, haze developed and visibility was slightly impacted at
> distance.
>
> Raptor Observations:
> The first migrant of the morning was the second Rough-legged Hawk of the
> season. This bird was a light-morph immature heading from east to west past
> the lookout. Other raptors identified from the summit included two migrant
> Red-tailed Hawks, the first Red-shouldered Hawk of the season, Turkey
> Vultures, and Bald Eagles.
>
> Non-raptor Observations:
> Seventeen species of birds were recorded at the hawk watch today. Local
> Hairy and Pileated Woodpeckers were feeding close to the summit.
>
> Predictions:
> Tomorrow will feel a lot warmer than today was at Bradbury Mountain. Winds
> will be light and northwest possibly changing to southwest prior to the end
> of the count period. This looks like a good day for hawk watching. Make
> sure to bring your binoculars to the summit!
