Judith Graber and I just had spectacular looks at the Townsend’s warbler in Cape Elizabeth —up close and personal. It was foraging on a tree trunk to the right of the driveway and on the adjacent ground about 10 feet from the road. So basically right in front of us.

Then it flew across the road and foraged on the ground next to a big rhododendron before moving back into the woods and out of sight. Beautiful bird!

The Towson warbler was in Cape Elizabeth at around noon today. We were there from two hours in the morning from about 9 to 11 and it was not there and we went to Dyers Point and someone told us it was there so we went back. It was on the feeder for just a few minutes and then flew off into the woods. The home owner has said that it has been coming around 3 o’clock for the last couple of days and that it seems to enjoy the sunshine.
