Rich,

My system (Lion) has been getting pounded to the tune of 4000
messages per minute by this Console message

"com.apple.mdworker.lsb.0: [Assigning new unique identifiers to
all messages]"

I finally traced it down to Mailsmith's "MailsmithImporter.mdimporter".

After removing this from the Mailsmith package the messages
stopped. I replaced it in the Mailsmith package and rebooted, so
far the messages haven't come back. Here's hoping they don't :)

Naturally, the common people don't want war, but after all, it
is the leaders of a country who determine the policy, and it is
always a simple matter to drag people along whether it is a
democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a
communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always
be brought to the bidding of the leaders. This is easy. All you
have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce
the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to
danger. It works the same in every country. -Hermann Goering

I personally manually switch off Spotlight indexing during working hours by
issuing this in a terminal:

`sudo mdutil -a -i off`

& then turn it back on with the `on` flag after finishing every night.

Cheers,

Phil..

One presumes that seven months later, the original poster's
indexing has finally finished.

You don't say what version of Mailsmith you're using; but if mds
is crashing, there may be a mail message that's crashing the
importer. There were some fixes here (in the latest build,
2.3.1(422)) which are probably worth trying.

Huh? I haven't had Spotlight enabled on my MBP for about six months at
least...

Cheers,

Phil...

This issue is continuing to cause me grief as well. I seem to
recall some debugging methods to determine which message might
be causing the problem, but my google-fu is weak today.

How can I find out which message is the culprit?

Thanks,
Charlie
