I have duplicate (spam) mailboxes.
For a few weeks, there have been two and I've ignored it. Today
I tried to find a cure...and made it worse. Now there are four
(spam) mailboxes and Mailsmith crashes on exit.
I tried rebuilding but that didn't solve the problem. I tried
to delete the mailbox but MS won't allow deletion of the (spam)
mailbox. I opened the package/folder and was able to see a
"spam" and "spam_1". I moved the spam_1 files out and restarted
and now the mailboxes have multiplied.
I have a SuperDuper backup if necessary but it's a few days old
and missing my most recent mail.
How do I fix the duplicate mailbox problem?
Mailsmith v2.2.1(292)
Mac OS X 10.4.11
Thanks,
David

Hopefully from this you've learned to take seriously what I and
many others have said repeatedly, which is to not ever mess
around inside of the Mail package, and ask for help from
qualified personnel instead.

If your accounts are all set to leave mail on the server, then
you can redownload it.
Try this:
- Go to Preferences/Spam Handling and turn off "Enable spam
detection".
- Delete the "(spam)" mailbox. (You can do this when spam
detection is turned off, but not when it's on, for obvious
reasons.)
- Quit Mailsmith. It will probably crash again.
- Start Mailsmith. If there are any unwanted "(spam)" mailboxes
remaining, repeat the cycle: delete the mailbox, quit (and
possibly crash), and then relaunch.
- Once ALL of the "(spam)" mailboxes are gone, turn spam
detection back on.
When you're done, update to the latest version.
If that doesn't work, then you will probably have to restore
from your backup and follow the above instructions, and then
re-download any mail remaining on your server accounts.

I would be surprised if anyone on this list (who doesn't have
access to the app code) will be able to help. So I suggest
contacting support directly <sup...@mailsmith.org>.

If I chose to do a SuperDuper restore, what
files/directories/packages should I copy?
Thanks,

Then you're SOL and need to restore from backup.

You can retrieve the entire "Mail" package from your backup, and
then reapply the previous instructions.
Good luck,

Easy enough. Took only a few seconds. Because I had exported
the handful of newer email, I was able to import them back into
the restored mailboxes.
Thanks for the help.

Awesome, glad it worked out.
