I use a simple scheme on my site to cloak affiliate links: I create
301 redirects on my site beginning with /out/... which refer to the
affiliate link. My articles then refer to this redirect rather than
the actual target site.
This means my affiliate links to other sites look like this:
http://grahamstoney.com/out/ixwebhosting
Instead of this:
https://www.ixwebhosting.com/templates/ix/v2/affiliate/clickthru.cgi?id=greyham
This prevents unscrupulous visitors from stealing my commission by
hacking the link. A lot of other affiliate marketers use a similar
scheme. However, this causes a problem with Tracking_ga, because it
doesn't recognise such links as outgoing and still tacks on the
tracking parameters which can confuse the target site.
I notice that the Google Analytics WordPress plugins has a field
called Internal Links To Track As Outbound. Would it be possible to
use this field to qualify internal links so that the tracking
parameters don't get added?
Cheers, Graham
