Hi,

Today I've upgraded Wordpress to 3.0 version and Mailpress to 5.0
version. After fixing the names for the tables in MySql and testing
that the mails are correctly delivered (from the test in the
configuration), now I have one problem: I don't receive the mails for
the new posts.

I don't know if the mysql structure changed from previous versions but
the users are correctly subscribed but neither of them receive the
mails.

Is there something I should know? I don't know if there's a typical
error from Mailpress newbies like me

Thanks

Do you made automatic update for Mailpress ?

Are you suscriber for every post ? if not, you need to wait at
tomorrow waiting daily newsletter (check your subscription).

Other option to test. Creat a new mailinglist just with your email,
and send a Mail.

Good luck

Well, I've just discovered that the new comments are indeed sent, so
the problem must be with the subscription of the new posts... I'll try
the mailinglist checking.

Thanks

Oh I realized that I didn't answer your questions, no I didn't made
automatic upgrade, in fact I deleted all the files and upload the new
ones (I didn0t have any mail template), and yes I'm subscriber for
every post.

I don't know how to create a new mailinglist... sorry but I can't find
it.

Ok, it's good news that you don't made automatic update of MP.

Check your add-ons of MP:
active mailinglist if not

Then, you will see a new menu "Mails" in your Control Panel, go to
Mails, active Theme and go to Add New (mail).

Ok, I've activated Mailinglists add-on and create a new one with only
my user, the test worked correctly but I still don't receive the new
posts, sorry I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Hi André, I activated the Newsletter add-on, but the thing is the
users were subscribed with the older version of Mailpress, I don't
know if I need to delete all users and subscribe them again.

I'm having the same issue.
WP 3.0 and MP 5.0 RC2.
I'm subscribed to 'Per Post'
Mailinglist, Newsletter and Newsletter_categories all active but I'm
not getting new post.

I just de-activated and re-activate the plugins but no joy.

Check:

Do you have active Batch send add-onn ?
If active, try with e.g. max 30 per batch and max 2 retries, every 30
seconds
Do you have active Wp_cron ? or you choice another ?

@rob upgrade to last 5.0 (follow readme.txt upgrade rules)

what has changed in 5.0 (among other things)

* deactivating/upgrading to 5.0/ activating MailPress should rename the mailpress tables (from uppercase (old versions) to all lowercase) Some guys have detected this and renamed them manually but i cannot tell if they did the upgrade properly.
* newsletters are defined in mp-content/advanced/newsletters (previously done in code)

hope this help !

from wordpress (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/mailpress/) cause
my whole site to shutdown with a 500 server error.
The version I have there now was from http://www.mailpress.org/mailpress_5.0_rc2.rar

Thanks-

We are using IIS (not Apache) if that matters.
What table does it make lowercase? It looks like all of mine are but
not 100% sure if I'm looking in the right spot.

No, I did not use the auto-upgrade. The version you pointed to on
wordpress.org cause my site to crash with a 500 internal server error.

Tables I have are (all lowercase):
wp_mailpress_formfields
wp_mailpress_forms
wp_mailpress_mailmeta
wp_mailpress_mails
wp_mailpress_stats
wp_mailpress_tracks
wp_mailpress_usermeta
wp_mailpress_usres

OK, now I'm on the newest version. For some reason, I think that going

Shouldn't I be seeing something in the wp-cron list for Daily? I would
assume that the Per Post only get triggered when a post is made so I
wouldn't expect to see anything for that.

You will see in logs tomorrow for daily newsletter.

First some like this:
MP_Log_0_MP_Newsletter_sched_proc_20100715.txt
Then:
MP_Log_0_MP_Mail_mailpress_20100714.txt (when the newsletter was sent)

Sorry but I still don't get mails for new posts. I have the last
version, mailinglist, newsletter, wp_cron and batch_send addons
activated, all the users are subscribed... did I left something?

In the last version I had I didn't have any addon activated. Should I
delete all the users and subscribe them again?

Yes, but remember that yesterday you update to MP5 !! That is the
begining.

Erase old logs... don't need it.

Do you made a published post in your blog yesterday ?

Kitedaso: I upgraded to 5.0 yesterday so I should have gotten a Daily

The only diference that I see is my first line:

(5.0) **** /wp-cron.php?doing_wp_cron

Do you have in Mailpress --> Setting --> Batches, selected Wp_cron
(e.g. every 5 minutes) ? NOT Other.

Just discovered something in my database. I have several blank lines
in _mailpress_mails.
They have an ID number but nothing in the other columns except date.
Below is just a sample. There are many more over the past few days the
first one appeared right after the upgrade to WP 3.

i compared the 20100715 and 20100716 logs

in 20100715, daily is properly scheduled but the only processing report for daily is after 12:00 and says already processed.

in 20100716, daily is properly scheduled and processing retrieves no posts.

posts 33625 & 33323 are also scheduled but apparently where processed in a previous day (wp fires the same hook (event) when publishing and updating a post)

Before upgrading to workpress 3.0 and mailpress 5.0 when I selected
edit on a users mane in the user email control panel there used to
check boxes that gave you the option of receiving an email individual
posts or one per month. Those check boxes are missing now. Could
that have something to do with why New Post emails are not being sent.

Has anyone else observe this

Because you need check after upgrade all settings of Mailpress. Don't
know if your upgrade was how in readme.txt said.

Check Mailpress --> Settings --> Subscriptions

And choice options to allow for individual, daily, etc

Then, back to users and edit... You will see

Maybe the php log has a clue as to what's going on (see below). At
this point I've had to deactivate the plugin because it was causing
LONG load time for post pages and it eventually crashed. Did I mention
I'm using the multisite option on WP3? Don't know if that's a factor.

about your mails not being sent, i am thinking of a memory limit on your php.ini !

about your _mailpress_usermeta table that is HUGE. This is due to MailPress_tracking that inserts a row for each mail/recipient to list for each user the last 10 mails sent

maybe you should consider doing this :
DELETE FROM (prefix)mailpress_usermeta where meta_key = '_MailPress_mail_sent'

Well the slow loading page and unresponsive script seems do to the

I haven't gotten anywhere yet.
My memory_limit is 128 as well.
I don't see it even trying to send the mail. I could understand if it
was in a log somewhere and had an error but the memory_limit seems
like a long shot.

This is odd. I just manually triggered the daily newsletter via

The result is a blank entry in the mailpress_mails db:

Nothing in the MP_Mail_mailpress log.

There are too many variables that you have it in mailpress to work
with Wordpress; Plugins, settings, etc.

The best way is a simple test, without other plugins, without cron job
(choose wp_cron), whith a default theme of MP.

1.- first test smtp
2.- test subscription
3.- test mailinglist (only with 2-3 accounts of emails that you are
owner)
4.- test newsletters (Post, Daily, Weekly and Month)
5.- test Programer

If all work, then test with another accesories like: categories,
bounce, tracking, etc.

One of this option is to have another installation of WP with MP. Like
www.yourdomain.com/test/ ? Create another folder and install WP and
MP.

When you are adding other plugins and add_on... You can ckeck
incompatibility or wrong changes of code (hack) etc.

I've done all of those test. Disabled plugins. used default mp theme
(and plain text). I use wp-cron. Same results every time.
SMTP works
test works
test from edit post works
new-subscriber, confirmed, comments, moderate work
daily, weekly, monthly, single, newsletters don't work.

Can anyone tell me why there are blank lines in my DB every time a
new_post, daily, weekly or monthly mail should go out?

Ok... I was testing with this setting weeks ago... don't ask me why,
but don't work fine mailpress if you don't use Monday how start of the
week.

Try with default start day "Monday"

Do you made hacks in daily, weekly and Month xml archives ?

@robanna

the mail is first created empy (to get its id) then all fields are populated in an update.
apparently the php process ends due to some error.
last time i saw this the problem was in the update due to database limitation (max mysql packet size) for column toemail
this info was logged in the MP_Log_MP_Mail_mailpress_yyyymmdd.txt log

Monday didn't work. No hacks to any xml archives.

I set the max_allowed_packet to 10048512. Still an empty row and there
is nothing in the MP_Log_MP_Mail_mailpress_yyyymmdd.txt log.

No Joy :( Nothing has changed.

I have installed Email Alerts Plugin (http://wordpress.org/extend/
plugins/email-alerts) so i can at least know when a new post is
published so i can moderate them. It sends emails OK through Mailpress
(at least they show in the mailpress_mails DB and the
MP_Log_1_MP_Mail_mailpress_ log).

This post got me thnking: http://groups.google.com/group/mailpress/browse_thread/thread/df9cf5cb9ab8fcc1#

In my DB, back when my new post mail was working the meta_value for
_MailPress_published was 'yes' and now that it doesn't work the value
is '1'
Could that have anything to do with my problem?

But nothing ever happens after that. My php memory limit is now at
256M so I can't believe that's the issue. All other mailpress features
work except the automated/sheduled mails. New Comments and Please
