Heh, I just complained about too intrusive notifications in Mailplane 3, but I just noticed that it also lacks most of the Growl notifications that 2.x had.
In particular, I miss the "Contact Wants to Talk" growl notification.
Too much, not enough?! Come on! LOL! (I kid, of course. I need a joking
font!)
Which OS X are you running? Mountain Lion strictly uses the notification
center and 10.7 uses Growl.
I do believe 'Block Google Chat' also blocks the notifications as well. If
you uncheck that within the preference menu and restart, does this help?
Of course, having chat blocked does help speed up the tabs a bit, but if
it's a non-issue for you, you may like it better.

I'm running Mountain Lion. I have Growl installed there. I already had the "block chat" unticked.
My Notification Center has nothing listed for Mailplane, but the NC prefs DO list Mailplane and it should be displaying banners. (see attached 10.23.25).
I've attached two screenshots of the Growl. The 10.20.02 is for 2.x, the 10.20.10 is for 3.x.

No, I've attached what it looks like. From the previous screen shots, it simply appears that Mailplane 3 doesn't have a Growl notification type specified for chat notifications (Compare the above shots from my previous post)

I just want to double check, since I have some conflicting information
here. You said you are running Mountain Lion but your case shows up above
as using 10.7 (lion). Could you just confirm for me? I'm going to run
this by the developer to find out for sure why it's not showing up, so I
wanted to make sure I have your info correct.

Thanks for clarifying. Your email showed up tagged with both OS X 10.7 and
10.8, so I wasn't sure. 10.7 uses Growl and 10.8 uses the notification
center.
If you go into your preferences in Mailplane and uncheck and recheck the
notification box and restart Mailplane, this may help the issue.

I'm not sure about the Growl forwarding to the Notification Center. 10.8
only uses the Notification center though. I'm interested in the Growl
forwarding information, so I'll take a look and see what I can learn there.
Chat notifications are not yet implemented but on our list! :)
Hope this helps.

I just want to reiterate my request for chat notifications for Mailplane3. If I'm not actively on my Mailplane window (which, as it happens, I keep in full-screen, I don't get any notification that someone has started or continued a conversation with me, either in Notification Center or Growl. This is a significant backtrack from the Mailplane 2.x behavior for me. FWIW, I'm on Mailplane 3 beta on OSX 10.8. I have growl 2.0.1 installed from the app store as well, so I can use either NC or Growl.

Thanks a lot for the message and the info. I've forwarded it on, I will
let you know what the developer thinks when I hear back. I can definitely
understand how this would be inconvenient.
