Gmail stores email just fine, but since replies include the original
email, I am wondering if there is any way in Mailplane to reply to an
email and delete the original after the reply is sent. It seems to me
that archiving the original note duplicates efforts and increases
amount of stored email. It would be great if a user could check an
option to delete original after reply is sent. Any ideas whether that
is possible?
I wouldn't mind having this as long as it is purely optional; I prefer
to keep the originals as well. Google adds space faster than I can use
it anyway.

Hmmm. You've never yet replied to the same message twice? What about forwarding the original message for some future reason?
Original messages can be very useful to keep for often unforeseen reasons until much later. Finding the original message can also be easier than finding the text of the originals buried within replies.
I'd be happy for the space to prevent the potential hassle involved in deleting originals to save space. :)
Just a thought. Of course, if you really want the feature.... then by all means! [?]

One solution could be the "Quote selected text" Lab feature as it limits the
quoted text that's included into the reply.
However, it wouldn't be a good idea to send a different message than storing
in Gmail. And it not the text that uses the space: Movies, pictures, and
other attachments take most of the space.
