I've noticed this over the past few days and its taken a little time to realise that only one account out of five that I manage is affected. I can compose a new message using the compose button. The toolbar new message, the file>new, and ⌘N all fail to initiate the new message window.
Hope this is fixed in the next update. I'm using v2.5.8 (#1690)
Definitely will be fixed soon! Google changed some things and the team has
to make it all compatible again! Hopefully you'll see full restoration of
your features very soon!

Same problem here, currently two of 15 users. Do you also have the problem that you can't drag and drop attachments into emails with those users?
Hope it gets fixed soon, I have the nagging feeling that Google will roll out that update to more of my users, and then things will get ugly: we rely heavily on AppleScript here to compose messages, and that has stopped working, too. All the best to Reuben & his team -- go for it, guys!
How is it now? We released an update for both Mailplane 2 and 3 today that
should get us working with Google's new changes. MP3 users should be
prompted to update, but Mailplane 2 users, please do a restart, as this is
'invisible'.
