I'm trying to decide between using Magic Models and DrySQL [http://
drysql.rubyforge.org]. Can anyone provide any pros (or cons) of why I
should choose Magic Models over DrySQL?

Also, I plan to use Streamlined. I don't foresee Magic Models (or
DrySQL) creating any conflicts in the ActiveRecord code, but I'd be a
bit more reassured if anyone could confirm that they're using them
together.

Thanks,
Craig

Craig,

I was talking with Dr. Nic this weekend at the RailsConf and you may want to take a look at the new Magic Models Generator. This will give you real models to work with on the file system that you can customize. Nic said that he would also look into adding a merge capability to allow you to update the db and update the models without losing any changes.

This approach gives you full control.

I can't yet expand on the differences between the original Magic Models and DrySQL, but that is something that I intend to investigate as well. Hopefully someone else on the list will respond to answer your original question.

The MMG will be the best way forward instead of the MM or DrySQL, I
believe, for most situations. I am hoping to clean up the gem and
remove the odd "features" it has at the moment (like has_many
:throughs back to itself), and I've started working on adding merging
to rails_generator source, which will make all generators more useful
I believe.
