Hi Yoav/Misha/CAB,

As part of the community roadmap process we had asked the members of the CAB to select a handful of features which the community has requested through our UserVoice forum for consideration of addition to the roadmap.  Please let us know what is decided on these features and if/how long it would take to include them into Magento Community Edition.

We are eager to hear back from yourself and the Magento team.

The following are the choices that we have made:

- Gift Certificates and Cards for Community Edition
Multi-store (language) SEO URLs
(KOBY: I believe this is in 1.4 right?)

- Better Import Functionality
import function that really works

- Removal of Javascript requirements for Front End:

Once certain features are selected Yoav will let us know how long they will take to implement and we will come back with a yes/no as to whether the proposed feature should proceed.

Thanks,
Koby

Hi Koby,

I would magento needs to prioritze the product import a lot. There
are a lot of industries that need frequent updates to their catalogs
and that is possible only with an efficient import process.

It would be best to make the import functionality faster and do this
with priority.

Best Regards,
Srini

"Removal of Javascript requirements for Front End" it's a great idea. Not only would help consumers that don't have javascript enabled, but it would also make magento overall faster as people could disable most of the libraries in use and opt to use a small library like jquery.

Best Regards,
Filipe

related items or lets call it accessories are today a very big player in the E-Commerce industries in some industries like cameras if they dont sell accessory that dont have any profit at all

so i think that we need to get more cretaive with the related products here are some ideas

1. Group by categorys i can see that option at BH photo i also saw this at Lexmark look at both sites under accessories

2. to mark accessory as required for example a memory card for a camera that doesnt inculde in the box or a toner for printer that doesnt have a toner in the box and in the event that a user add to cart without selecting the accessory there shuold be a warning "the <item name > does not include <required accessory item name > in the box are you sure that you dont want to add to cart

What would also be cool is if we could have a custom option of a configurable product be required only if a specific option is selected (or perhaps more precisely, if a specific child product is selected, it's custom options that are required are then required too).

Think of this situation:

You are selling T-Shirts that allow you to customize size, color, and some text on the back.  You have some pre-made shirts with funny sayings ("I'm with Stupid --->", etc.) and you also allow the user to enter a custom message if they choose.  There is currently no way (none that I have found) to require a text-box to be filled in if the user selects that "custom" message option instead of a pre-fab message.

Something else that seems to be popping up more and more is image modification based on custom product selection.  I know there is a community module out there that does AJAX requests to create the correct image; however, if we could have this out-of-the-box that would be much better.  If you're not sure what I mean, it's changing the main image on the product page to change to reflect what options are currently selected.  This extension, http://www.temgra.com/color-swatches-magento-extension.html, is the one I am referencing.

And one last one.  It would be nice to have the ability to turn off the related prices and instead use the prices of the child products directly.  Roy Rubin wrote about an extension (Simple Configurable Products) that does this; however, I think that would be a great option as those items with a pricing scheme that doesn't fit into Magento could really reduce the number of configurable products one would have to create in order to achieve the same effect.

I second that. Good point, thanks for posting.
