tracking pixel gif

I was wondering why the tracking pixel gif is located at the top of
the emails by default when using the site editor. For people receiving
emails, this will show up as a red x for those clients not allowing
pictures (which is the default for most.) Why not put this at the
bottom? Or is there some reason why it is located where it is.

For now, I will use custom html for my emails so I can move the pixel
from the top of the email. It would be great if either a.) the pixel
loaded at the bottom by default or b.) the pixel could be moved when
using the site's editor.
