[MADdotNET] ALL.NET meeting Tonight! / June 3rd: Aaron Hoffman on Dynamic Data

Greetings all!  Finally heading into the nice weather of summer here in Madison, and we have lots of great events coming up in the .NET user group!

But first, congratulations also go out to Travis and his family -- which is now ==>

Aside from that great news! -- 

1) We have an ALL.NET meeting tonight (Room #104) -- and if you've on the <madd...@googlegroups.com> discussion group, you'll know we've been talking about an Azure completion ( see http://www.maddotnet.com/Community/tabid/153/Default.aspx - specifically: http://www.newcloudapp.com/ ) -- so we're planning on brainstorming and starting on that potentially.

Also we are very lucky to have a micro-presentation from Steve Evans, part one of a series of micro-presentations on architecture design patterns.  I know that I'm looking forward to that!

2) We have our next monthly meeting presentation setup on June 3rd by Aaron Hoffman on ASP.NET Dynamic Data!

ASP.NET Dynamic Data is a framework for creating Data-Driven (CRUD) Applications quickly and easily.  It is included with Visual Studio 2008 SP1 and is built on top of the existing ASP.NET framework.  It utilizes the power of new 3.5 framework features (LINQ, ORMs, URL Routing) to Dynamically create an entire website based off a Domain Model and Metadata.  Dynamic Data is not code generation; the generated site is easily customizable, and parts of the Dynamic Data framework can be integrated into existing websites.

This will be a three part presentation.  First, we’ll cover the basics of creating a Dynamic Data website.  We’ll build an entire site from scratch using Microsoft’s Northwind database.  Second, we’ll dig into the Framework to see how all this functionality is possible.  We’ll cover the DynamicField control and FieldTemplates.  And third, we’ll look at the Dynamic Data Futures project on CodePlex to see what’s in store for Dynamic Data 2.0.
