MACROMEDIA CUSTOMERS BRING HOME THE WEBBYS
Clear majority of award-winning sites built with Macromedia software
San Francisco, California -- May 12, 2000 -- Macromedia, Inc. (NASDAQ:
MACR) today congratulated Thursday night's Webby Award winners, of
which a clear majority used Macromedia products to deliver their
engaging Web sites. Also, at the @d:Tech World Awards earlier this
week, Balthaser Studios (http://www.balthaser.com/) won "Best of Show"
and a gold award for best overall creative design for its own Web
site, which extensively uses Macromedia Flash.
A clear majority of Webby and People's Voice Award winners at the
prestigious Webby Awards used Macromedia Web publishing solutions on
their sites, including Macromedia Flash, Shockwave, Dreamweaver,
Generator, and Fireworks. Macromedia Flash was also used by the
winner of this year's special category, the SFMOMA Webby Prize for
Online Art won by Entropy8Zuper! (http://entropy8zuper.org/).
"Macromedia would like to congratulate the Web developers who have
provided such incredible examples of what our technology can deliver
on the Web," said David Mendels, senior vice president of Business
Development and Corporate Marketing for Macromedia. "Our customers
have continued to raise the bar on what the Web can be, and we're
continually amazed by how they express themselves using our products."
Some of the Webby Award winners (a complete list with links is at
http://www.webbys.com/event/webcast/awards/) that use one or more
Macromedia products include: Ad Busters, AtomFilms, Cocky Bastard,
ESPN, GameSpy.com, Jim Romenesko's MediaNews, MSNBC, Napster, Outside
Magazine, Paul Smith, Politics.com, Stile Project, Video Farm, and Web
Stalker. Shockwave.com was also named a People's Voice winner in the
games category.
In addition to Balthaser Studios taking home the "Best of Show" at
last week's @d:Tech Awards, Macromedia Flash was used by many of the
gold award winners at the advertising-centric show. "Our corporate web
site couldn't exist without Macromedia Flash. The entire site is one
seemless Flash experience," said Neil Balthaser, president of
Balthaser Studios. "Macromedia Flash is our tool of choice and the
only solution that enables us to deliver television quality production
values to our clients. We're usually behind the scenes, creating
Balthaser Magic for our clients, so it was an honor to be recognized
as a leader in the creation, execution, and functionality of marketing
and advertising on the Internet. We're very proud of these awards."
Macromedia Flash is the standard for high-impact, vector-based Web
sites that deliver motion, sound, interactivity, and graphics. The
Macromedia Flash Player is installed on more than 90 percent of Web
desktops, and more than 300,000 developers use Macromedia Flash as an
integral part of the Web authoring solution. Macromedia Dreamweaver is
the market-leading visual Web authoring solution for professional Web
developers, and is used by more than 500,000 Web developers.
