I draw a rounded rectangle and want to change the roundness. Help says
that there's a roundness setting in the properties window, but I've been
looking for it there, and elsewhere, for 15 minutes. I remember that it
was a bit of PITA in FW4, too, being located in an obscure window that I
seldom had loaded (Object?). But at least I could find it eventually. I
can't seem to find it in CS5 at all...

I've banged my head against this wall many times - perhaps somebody out
there has found what the help file is talking about.
I suspect something to do with auto shapes function. What I've used is
- select the rectangle > window > Auto Shape Properties (well down the
menu and beyond the AutoShapes entry which doesn't do a lot for me)
You can set all 4 corners with the padlock on or individual ones with it
"open`'.
(Of course if the degree of roundness is not required to be so precise,
dragging one of the yellow diamonds to right or left will adjust the
corners.)

Hey,
I cancelled this post when I realized that the ng was pretty much
defunct and moved the question to...
http://forums.adobe.com/community/fireworks/fireworks_general
Turns out, I was clicking on the yellow corners which toggled their mode
instead of thinking to slide them. Also, although I spotted the Auto
Shapes window, I somehow missed the Auto Shapes *Properties* window
which is analgous to the FW4 UI where you set the value numerically.
It was also somewhat hard to find in FW4 because iirc the setting was in
the object window, which is not that useful in general.

Yes - Adobe removed their support about 18 months or so ago and removed
it from tehir servers but, like all groups that are mirrored, it
continues to exist on automatic mirrors. Somer of us remain around as a
preference to browser based web forums - but more on the Dreamweaver one
than Fireworks. The official experts have all gone.

Glad you found it - they don't make it easy and the Help contribution
is not exactly intuitive to my simple mind.
thanks for coming back.
