My normal work is dependent upon EncFS, so:

* Is it reasonably safe to run both old and versions of MacFusion,
concurrently?

1. Logically: I should not configure multiple instances to perform the
same auto-mount.

Apart from that one precaution, and the others that are usual when
working with pre-release software, are there any other precautions?

This should not be a problem. They store all data totally separately,
and should not interact in any way.
