The problem is, on running MacFusion, the error reads something like
"remote host disconnected." This is while attempting an ssh
connection. On my remote host nothing in /var/log ever shows any
connection attempts though, so I think that error message is in error.
Meanwhile in Console I see a crash report; the file reads:

I ran this command in Terminal to fix it:
mv /Applications/Macfusion.app/Contents/PlugIns/sshfs.mfplugin/
Contents/Resources/sshnodelay.so /Applications/Macfusion.app/Contents/
PlugIns/sshfs.mfplugin/Contents/Resources/sshnodelay.so.its_a_dud
and now MacFusion appears to work.
