Subject: QTSS secure.log Spam
Does anyone know how to slow the propagation of lines such as the follow
from secure.log on either Leopard or Snow Leopard server?  Turning on QTSS
has made secure.log nearly unreadable ...

Sep 21 13:05:15 qtss-srv1 com.apple.SecurityServer[36]: Succeeded
authorizing right 'com.apple.server.admin.streaming' by client
'/usr/sbin/QuickTimeStreamingServer' for authorization created by
'/System/Library/CoreServices/ServerManagerDaemon.bundle'

I found some info online for remedying it in 10.3 and 10.4 server, but
unfortunately the recommendations do not seem to be valid any longer.

Zack,

You might try modifying the idlePeriod key in
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.servermgrd.plist to 300.  I did that on 10.5
server, and it slowed the messages down to once every 5 minutes.  Try 'man
servermgrd' for details.  60 seconds is the default; 300 seconds is the max.
If you go over the max, it says it defaults back to 60 seconds, so  setting
something like 3600 seconds won't work, at least not on 10.5 server.

Test and use at your own risk! :)

Regards,

Jim
