Our machines run Scientific Linux so I've been following
http://www.math.uiuc.edu/Macaulay2/Downloads/GNU-Linux/ScientificLinux/index.html
sowe have been using M2 v1.4. I recently discovered that M2 v1.5 is
avalible for CentOS
http://www.math.uiuc.edu/Macaulay2/Downloads/GNU-Linux/CentOS/index.html

Now, CentOS and ScientificLinux are both recompilations of the
Red Hat Enterrpise Linux source code, so the three operating systems
are almost identical - far more sumilar to each other than than RHEL5
is to RHEL6, or than RHEL6 is to any version of Fedora
(a community-supported OS from Red Hat).

There is virtually no reason why the same binary package would
not work on all three of Red Hat, CentOS and ScientificLinux.
Could the three pages
http://www.math.uiuc.edu/Macaulay2/Downloads/GNU-Linux/RedHat/index.html
http://www.math.uiuc.edu/Macaulay2/Downloads/GNU-Linux/CentOS/index.html
http://www.math.uiuc.edu/Macaulay2/Downloads/GNU-Linux/ScientificLinux/index.html
be replaced with a single page for all three ?

This would avoid people like me running an older version of M2
because I missed the fact that the latest version of M2 was
available for "another" OS.

http://www.math.uiuc.edu/Macaulay2/Downloads/GNU-Linux/Fedora/index.html
has a broken link to
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/pkgdb/packages/name/Macaulay2
A suitable alternative might be:
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/pkgdb/acls/name/Macaulay2

Thanks,

I implemented your suggestion today, and our 1.6 CentOS release should
be available soon.
