What is the easiest way on a Mac (ie no virtualization of Windows etc)
to handle Trados jobs?
By Trados jobs, I mean normal Word source files, bilingual RTF source
files, TTX source files and "uncleaned" delivery along with TM files
(Trados format). Did I forget anything ?
After looking around the web, I found that:

Important news.
OmegaT users can now use free software as their XLIFF editor. There
may be a few glitches here and there, but OLT is very useable with
standard XLIFF files.
For OSX users: get the Unix package and read the instructions in the

Snow Leopard comes with a few interesting features as well as a few
annoyances, like Java 6 that does not play along too well with OmegaT:
buggy anti-aliasing, slowness etc, all "features" that we don't really
need.
But there is at least one thing that we really will learn to like

By the way, the only downside to OmegaT that I've found up to now is

Your Excel file is a .xls file is that correct ?
When you open it in OpenOffice.org and convert it for use in OmegaT,
you must convert it to ODS format. In fact I am pretty sure that is
the only available format as far as OOo is concerned.

what I mean is that I end up with a open office target text which
allows itself to be converted into a word document but I can't turn it
back into an excel file (which is what it originally was).

If this is too vague I will try to describe the steps more carefully
in a later mail.

Hi everyone
I Œm currently trying to translate an excel file which I convert into an
open office document in omegaT, which is works fine as far as the
translating goes, but I can¹t convert the result back to an excel file which
is what the client wants. Any suggestion how to solve this.
Very grateful for any reply, even if it just boils down to forget about it.

I think Rainbow can convert your TTX file to TMX.

I think my problem can be solved withoot having to deal with the ttx files,
since I requested the client the original English files, and the Spanish
Translation (mostly html files)

I just read of an application called Toxic, for Omega T, but havent´s tried
it yet.
Also, I found some forums where it is explained how to deal in Wordfast with
them problem, but apparently not very satisfying.
Let´s wait for some other answer here. Anyway, I´´ll let you know if I
figure it out.

To tell you the truth, I have never had to deal with TTX files in
OmegaT so I don't know how much of the article will help you...
