Database Administrator
Description:
The candidate will review, develop, and design data models using
standard diagramming techniques, in conjunction with application
development teams; create logical data models and translate into
physical database structures that integrate with existing or proposed
database structures. May evaluate and recommend testing and evaluation
of new procedures, software, and hardware. Roles and Responsibilities:
* Monitor relational databases to optimize database performance,
resource use, and physical implementations of databases; address a
variety of database integration issues including migration between
disparate databases, integration, maintenance/conversion, capacity
planning issues, and new applications. * Provide advice to
applications programmers in the effective use of database languages;
advise on troubleshooting, exception processing needs and other data
management issues.
* Maintain availability and integrity of databases through multiple
access schemes; facilitate sharing of common data by overseeing proper
key and index management and data dictionary maintenance.
* Monitor and manage database backups, logs, and journals; install,
maintain, and upgrade database software; restore and/or recover data
as required.
* Create, procure and maintain various database related documents such
as manuals and programmers' handbooks.
* May provide 24-hour on-call support.
* Experience interpreting data models and developing database
structures; using standard diagramming techniques to design and
develop computer data models; and implementing and troubleshooting
programming changes and modifications.
Minimum Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must
minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
* 16 years experience with Bachelor's * 4 additional years of
experience will be considered in lieu of degree * Position requires a
current TS/SCI w/ Poly Clearance Preferred Qualifications: Candidates
with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration: *
Administer development and production databases from version 9.1
through 10.2 * Performance tuning of Oracle databases * Security
administration of Oracle databases * Expert PL/SQL programmer * Oracle
Data Guard * Oracle Grid Control * Oracle RMAN * Basic administrator
skills with Solaris 8, 9, and 10 * Basic HW configuration skills *
Familiarity with Oracle ASO and VPD
