Would anyone be opposed to leaving the AC on and bumping the thermostat higher to say 76 when the space is empty? Leaving it off for extended periods really raises the heat and humidity in there increasing the chance of mold growth and *possibly* harming sensitive electronics. I realize that the 2nd point is subject to debate.

Plus, getting there at 5 and turning the unit on at the hottest time of the day makes it work twice as hard than if the space was already cooled during the prior 24 hours, many of which are cooler (at night) causing the system to run more efficiently. It will also make life easier on the dehumidifier in the basement.

Besides the moisture coming up from the boneyard and the outdoor temps, we have 2-4 servers running that heat up the space as well (and a fridge).

Thoughts?

No opposition from me - as I recall, there was an offer of getting a better HVAC system (for free).  Is the offer still available?  I'm willing to bring a tape measure to check dimensions in the alley, if no one has done the work.

That was from me.  My contact at KLM was waiting until he had free time.  With the heat being so bad they have been swamped.  I'll send him a followup email.

He was going to provide used equipment, and we would pay labor/materials.  He would give us a quote to review.

Sounds fine to me if it makes working more comfortable.

Anyone have a kill-a-watt for 220?  :-)

Regarding the tape measure, I have a 25 foot tape that I left in the Craftsman rolling tool box.  There's also a small socket set in it as well.  Its available for any to use.
