LVL1 is now open again!

There are now 2 port-a-potties at the building. One for boys and one for girls.

MSD and contractor plumbing crews will be active at LVL1 for the next
week, while they redo our sewer lines. They say one week, but let's go
ahead and assume 2 weeks..

Access will still be through our regular door entryway in the alley.
The front door isn't keyed the same and we can't move the RFID access
around without a lot of hassle.

Please be patient with the MSD and plumbing crews while they are
working. If they have any questions about access or procedure, direct
them to contact our landlord. Don't try to answer it yourself and
don't call me to get the answer. The landlord is the point of contact
for all the work crews.

Everyone can resume your pulse jets, flame colors, synthesizer
building, 3D printering, lasering, space AI or whatever else you're
working on.

Thanks!

Is there any number /email for the landlord, just in case?

I'll put it on the whiteboard when I get to the space tonight.

Awesome news Chris.  Thanks for keeping us up to date, its nice to get these periodic emails.

Any thoughts of setting back the celebration a week so we would more confident in having an event with no sewer gases or (additional) dust floating around for all the food that will be out in the open?

It might also give us a greater turnout since next week is a holiday week and many will on vacation.

Yeah I think it's prudent to delay the party a week or two to make
sure we're 100% operational.

I want to get a better sense of MSD's time frame first, and not push
it too close to Maker Faire Detroit.

The regular door is jammed by the wood they have covering the hole and can not open enough for anyone to get through. When I got here the land lord was here with the garage door open so I was able to get in and I have been letting MSD people (I'm guessing) in all day to check out the basement. But when I try to use the RFID access code to open the garage door from the outside it doesn't seem to be working. Has the code changed? Maybe you can figure this out tonight Chris.

Thanks,
Sam Ellis

What's the chance of using the mill or is that off-limits till MSD is done?

the garage door wire broke and the new wire was the wrong kind

I'm trying to coordinate just getting the wood or whatever out of the
way with the landlord, but can't see what's going on until I'm down
there tonight.

Tim, can you give me some more details on the wire? If the new wire is
the wrong kind, what is the right kind?

Tyler is at the space with the landlord right now, replacing the
original garage door wire that was removed. He is also working on
placing the RFID scanner closer to the garage door.

John, I don't know what to tell you other than use the metal mill at
your discretion. I have no idea what MSD needs to do in that area or
when they need to do it. Just stay out of their way while they are
working.

How long and how many conductors? I can bring something by tomorrow if I have it in my trailer at work.

Thanks Sean, maybe Tim or Tyler can answer that.

I'm not sure why there was a desire to replace this with 22 gauge, but
the smaller gauge was adequate to switch the opener before; and works
now too.

All - The RFID reader has been moved and the garage door has been hooked up.

To open the garage door:
1) Scan RFID Card
2) enter 4 digit PIN and press #
3) press 3 then press #

Sean - The ally is closed off but if you can pull into the parking lot
and move it from there.

Sorry Sean I misread your e-mail, To replace the wire we will need 2
conductors 26 gauge 30 feet.. We are currently using 30 gauge.

I will stop by Tuesday with 18/2 wire or would you like some 22/8 wire?

I'll drop by and bring a selection of wire :) should be in the AM, noon latest.

I may start collecting scrap boxes of leftover low voltage wire to bring by. Generally the last 50' on a 1000' roll, etc.

22 will work. If either of you have eyelet terminals that will handle 2-4 wires of 26-22 gauge that would be great.

I should have several harbor freight ring and eyelet terminal cases on my trailer, so I'll bring those too.

I brought over some 18/4 and 22/4 plus an unopened pack of rings, Spade terminals, etc. I'd like the unused amounts of each back at some point if possible since I'll be using them later this summer on my trips to burning man events in Georgia and NC. It's only a few bucks in parts tho on the terminals, so if they're crazy useful and we have none at the space, I can snag another set at HF. If that's the case, if someone can shoot me the part # off the case I'll be equipped properly :) Wire's too expensive these days for me to leave too much of that ATM, although I'm going to see what I can do about that. Just haven't had a chance to scrounge any yet that I haven't already put in inventory that I need to account for.

Thanks,

Sean

On a completely unrelated note,

Kathy just picked up the replacement bulb for the Laser cutter. I will be bringing it to the meeting tonight for installation

For future reference, it is an ATR F8T4/41K

available by order from Louisville Lighting and City sales (Couple blocks down Broadway from the shop, behind the BP gas station(Hancock St.))

Update!

I finally got ahold of the MSD field inspector this morning and got
the good news. Sewage lines have been reconnected, so our bathroom
facilities are now fully operational.

Contractor crews are still at work pouring cement in our basement to
repair the floor. MSD will be continuing work in the alleyway this
week, pouring concrete plugs and asphalt where they dug up the
alleyway.

Everything is operational, just watch for wet cement.
