I noticed last night that the drinks in the mini fridge were not very cold at all. I glanced at the dial and saw it was set to 7. I kind of thought that was the coldest setting, but didn't look too closely at it. Maybe 1 is the coldest. Any thoughts? Is it having trouble?

Unless its some special fridge, they can lay down, they just have to sit up a few hours before being turned on.  And care needs to be taken that the coils don't take weight when traveling.

I found the problem with the minifridge, there was a bunch of non store crap shoved into the freezer and it blocked the airflow preventing it from cooling down.

Lvl1 is welcome to take the 18 cubic ft refrigerator in our basement, but before plans are made to pick it up, let me make sure it still works.  I just plugged it back in after it has been off for several years.

I can speak with authority here (20 years working at the GE Appliance Tech Line) and this kind of refrigerator, natural draft (condenser on the back) should only be moved upright.  Tilting it a little to go up  the stairs is ok, but no moving on its sides, door or back.

It is in our basement, which means it has to be moved up 1 flight of stairs.  We're about 30 minutes from the space, in eastern Jeffersonville, not too far from the new Amazon center.

I don't really have a dog in the hunt.  I agree its ideal to transport them upright, and I defer to Kathy in regard to this especially since I don't know the model, but this was what I was going by.

When moving other GE refrigerators to a new location, we recommend the following: Turn refrigerator to Off. This should be done a couple of hours before moving to allow the evaporator time to defrost. Disconnect power cord from wall. Remove all foods and clean the interior. If the refrigerator is going to be in transit for more than a day, you may want to place a small bag of activated charcoal(such as used in fish tanks) in the refrigerator to absorb odors. Secure loose items, such as the grille, shelves, storage pans, ice trays, ice storage bucket. Covers and removable parts should be protected with tape - this prevents their coming loose and causing damage. Secure the refrigerator. If your refrigerator is on rollers, be sure it is properly secured in the moving van to prevent rolling and damage. Handle with care. The exterior of your refrigerator should be protected with a blanket covering. NOTE: GE does not recommend laying the refrigerator on its back.

When loading the refrigerator in a moving van, truck, etc., it is best to keep it standing upright. If laying the refrigerator on its side cannot be avoided, it is important to follow the above instructions on securing the components inside the refrigerator to prevent possible damage.

When using a dolly or hand truck, always truck from the side.Possible damage could occur if trucked from the front or rear. Should it be necessary to lay the unit down, lay it on its side Lay it on the side opposite the hinges (on top and bottom freezer models) so the door will remain closed. Side by side models should be placed on the freezer side. That door is less likely to come open. Note: Exceptions are Monogram™, bottom-mount and compact models* - these must always remain upright!

Important: If it has been necessary to transport the refrigerator on its side, it should be stood upright for an equal amount of time as it was on its side before plugging it in. If on its side for more than a day, leave standing for 24 hours before running. (If laying on its side just briefly to service, clean or adjust, just a few minutes of stand time will be enough.)

Does it lock, and can you fit a normal size person in it?  j/k.  I would say yes, we would want it.  At the rate we are growing, we could always use more refridgeration assuming the circuit supports it.

Surely this can't be that hard.  Perhaps put a shelf above the stove to hold the microwave and get rid of the microwave cart.  The stuff underneath it (sodas?) can be stored somewhere else, like in the new donated fridge.

2.       Hire a couple trained monkeys to juggle all of the items, 24x7

3.       Use the handy portable hole I have to stow the excess

Where ever the new fridge is placed, if it is brought to the space, I
would ask that possible circuit overload be kept in mind when placing it.

I have not had time to complete a load analysis on the circuits in the
space yet so I cannot say where the best place is on the first or second
floor.

I believe the basement circuits are all able to handle a fridge.

One thing it "could" solve, if acceptable to the donor, is it could be made into a Kegerator with a hole out the front and some taps.  There's a serious possibility I will be moving in 6 months and will be taking "keggy" with me.

Adding 1 more full fridge, specifically for sodas & beers, would allow for a better distribution of food stuff….

The fridge seems to be cooling fine, so far.  I've put some water in it, so let's see if that freezes overnight.

It is an 18 cubic ft, self defrosting Frigidaire, about 8 years old.  It's 66" H x 30" W x 31" (plus handle) D.  It needs 3/8" free space on sides and top and 1" free air on the back.  Since the condenser is on the back, those air circulation spaces are very important.  In a perfect world, it would have its own 15 amp circuit.  Our basement floor is too disgusting for me to be willing to measure the length of the power cord, but typically they are 5-6 ft long.  Refrigerators should never be run on an extension cord.

I have a place for it, replace the current large fridge with it. the one we have is smaller than the proposed donation. One of the reasons that Joe got the mini fridge for the vending was because of the mess in the large fridge. there is an entire drawer full of  beer people have not drank and that is the easiest mess to point out. That  and people started encroaching on the reserved vending section making it confusing for new people.

Speaking as someone who's tried cooking for people at the space more refrigeration space would be fantastic.  Perhaps we could dedicate one (large) fridge to "vending" stuff and the other (also large) to "non-vending" stuff?  The mini-fridge could still work for drinks as well though moving it away from the donation bucket could have its downsides (people forgetting to pay by accident).

Our fridge would not make a good Kegerator conversion.  It has been my experience that those that have plastic liners, as this one does, end up a big mess because the plastic splits, moisture gets in the insulation,  mold becomes a problem, the outside of the door sweats and rusts. Plus its thermostat is in inconveniently located and would limit the space for the keg.  What you need for a good Kegerator is one of the old workhorses with steel liners and a small,usually removable freezer compartment.
