'm considering having Saturday night meetings at LVL1 either monthly or bi-monthly for those of us that like to participate in LAN games (first person shooters, etc).

I was considering a format where we rotate individuals to possibly present:
  • Demonstration of a game to the group (for those that may not be familiar with).
  • Show and Tell of hardware hacks
  • Discussion of current hardware trends
  • Tips/Tricks
  • PC Build discussions
  • Pass around the 3DMark performance evaluator tool and see who has the highest rated rig.

After the presentation part of the meeting (generally brief methinks) it would be an open play evening where you bring your rig and we get down to fragging.

If this is something you think you'd be interested in, please let me know.

Thanks.
Jeff

Only if we can have a TetriNET tournament.

Pat, that is definitely a game I'd be interested in seeing.

There doesn't appear to be enough interest in this idea to merit a meeting.  I may recheck the group in 6 months.

Thanks.

I'd say partially interest and partially bad timing, you did post in the middle of Million Man Land.  I'd like to get a bigger gaming circle at LVL1, I would try starting a thread on lanwar.com to try to get some outsiders to come to lvl1.

If there's not enough interest for meetings we can still do lan parties every now and then.  Might try to schedule one soon...

Is LANWAR local to the area, or a nationwide group?

The Lanwar community is pretty big and widely dispersed, but the event itself is local.

I would say hey, super interested. But I'm absolutly unreliable on actually making a time frame anymore.

Problem: I'm probably playing too many damned games.

go figure : D

Yeah, I'm stuck playing borderlands (3rd time through).  According to steam, I've played over 1,000 hours so far.  Yikes!  Thats half a man year.

When I get some free time, I'll post something on lanwar for locals.

Aaron, what time of the month/week do you think would work best not to interfere with MML?

I know my son (14) would love to participate!  I will just play with the laser.

Been doing some Awesomenauts, Skyrim, Really Big Sky, Super Meat Boy, Minecraft, both Alan Wake's, Mario 2.

The DLC for Skyrim came out on PC, but feel like I should complete the other 80% of the quests I didn't do before thinking about a DLC.

I've also been thinking about getting back into Borderlands. I beat the main game, and then I kind of lost interest shortly after hitting the DLC. It seemed to take a sudden shift into vehicle heavy play, and maybe it was just that I was playing single player, but I really couldn't keep interested.

Awesomenauts is a pretty good multiplayer game. Lot of unlockables. Don't really know the best description for it. But maybe team based, platforming, shooter, (mild) tower defense elements, strategy game. Only played it a few times, but it's fun. But heavily relies on multiplayer, though you can play with bots.

My time is like platinum right now.... but I like this idea.
Would also like to continue talks about a game developers interest
group.

I can showcase Tachyon the Fringe and old space sims sometime...

The MML only happens 2 times a year so I don't think it is a consideration...

Okay, I'll try to get something on the schedule this week for a mid to late August meet.
THanks.
