Subject: {LVL1} Recently loaned resources.

I just wanted to let everyone know that Marc Verdi (Mr. Biodiesel) dropped off several items to loan to LVL1 yesterday.  They include:

1. An Everlast PowerPro256 TIG/arc welder/plasma cutter with accessories.  This is a *really* nice welding rig and Marc has asked that anyone who has not been properly trained not use the unit.  Additionally, it draws a huge current load so please be mindful of that if you do plan to use it.

2.  An argon tank and regulator.

3.  Two auto-darkening welding helmets -- Miller Titanium 7300 and a Kobalt XA-1001F.

4.  Two packs of filler rod -- #7056 3/32 and #4043 3/32.  These are consumables and are free to use.

5.  An HP C7780C large format printer that is capable of printing on vinyl with the proper ink.  Marc believes the hard drive in this unit is either full or malfunctioning.  In either case, the printer is free to be used, but not hacked.

I printed out LVL1 stickers and labeled all the items with the appropriate information, but the stickers on the welding gun and attached hoses may not stay affixed, so please be mindful of this and keep them with the PowerPro 256 welder.

Thanks for your generosity, Marc!  I'm sure we will put the loaned items to good use.

-- Raj

Thanks Raj! Great job keeping the labeling system up. Marc contacted
me about this loan equipment yesterday too. As I understand it, this
is part of a cnc plasma cutter table that is forthcoming.

Here's some caveats before everyone gets too excited. There are some
items that need to be taken care of before the plasma / TIG stuff can
be used.

- The plasma cutter needs 240VAC, which we do not currently (no pun
intended) have. This has been a long delayed request and will take
some leadership to get an electrician to put in.

- The thought is that the plasma cutter / TIG stuff will likely need
to go into the dead room, BUT we'll also need some safety build out
for ventilation and fire safety. Other suggestions are welcome, but
the ventilation is the big issue if this is inside the building.

- It's been requested that the plasma stuff not be used without proper
training from Marc or a designate. We're going to work out a
convenient way to do that once the above two hurdles are cleared. For
the time being the idea is don't use this unless Marc has trained you.

Chris

When Marc dropped it off he mentioned that it was a really nice welder, but since I don't know how to weld it didn't mean much to me.  When I googled the model number to get the manufacturer's name and features for the label, the prices that popped up made me do a double take.  This clearly didn't come from Harbor Freight.

A CNC plama cutter would be a helluva project!  When he dropped it off Marc mentioned that he had cut through 3/4" steel with it and it went through like butter.
