I think this is pretty awesome. She finds bits of trash to collect DNA from strangers in NYC, then uses Genspace to look for genetic trait markers, and approximates their appearance, and 3D prints the result.

You mean, if I get a loose hair from Jose, I can potentially have her make me a copy of Jose's head on a wall?  I.... AM...  IN   !!!!   LOL.

I'd like to see more from known donors - It's a bit hard to judge how close her own portrait matches her.  It looks like it could be a younger her, or a possible relative.  One of the male faces frankly looks more like a neanderthal than a modern human ;-)  I'd love to see a lineup of actual people next to their DNA portraits.  It would be interesting to see how good of a match so few data points can produce.

Finding a hair on Jose's head would be difficult.

This a such a joke, she hardly gets any info from the DNA, she just makes up the details.  This is just 3D art masquerading as interesting science.

Thanks,
Dan

Yea, she's using about 50 data points if I recall correctly.  Another reason it would be cool to see several side by side pictures of her DNA extrapolated faces and the original donor.
