A good friend of mine has been running this:

http://www.obsoletecomputermuseum.org/

And is now not wanting to continue paying for the site/storage/etc.  Take a look at the list and let me know what, if anything, you'd like and any suggestions for other museums will be passed along as well.  I hate to see all this stuff sent off for recycling...

Ah, I'd also love to give the Altair a home ;-) Had one for many years complete with a 4 mb winchester hard drive, 2 8" floppy drives, and a tele-video 912c terminal -- and the entire walnut creek CP/M archive on floppy disks.  Loved that machine, it doubled as a space heater as well. Of course mine was an 8800B, I'm drooling over that 8800 ;-)

I'm gonna try and get a list together and see if it's worth the long, long, long drive out to get it and back (some 600 miles one way).  Or ship it all in a crate.

I’d go in on the crate…

If he had a working Xerox 8*0, I might even drive but….

I *might* have one of those, though I think mine is a Brother?  Been awhile since I looked at that particular old machine.

Hello. I don't visit the lvl1 forum much, but Aaron told me about this and I would gladly take any Apple computer to add to my own collection!

I'll take the commodore 64 if it hasn't been claimed

I am very interested in several of these-- especially any 8-bit 'gaming' machines like the Atari 400/800A/XLs.  Anything that I would take would be used.  Looking at the site, it is difficult to determine which ones he owns and which are just images with history.

Yeah; I'm working on getting a better list.  I'll probably drive my truck out there to get some of this stuff when I can afford the gas and time (10+ hours one way without stops).  Oh, and new tires first, too...

Freight may be cheaper.  My list of 'interested in' that no one else has claimed yet-- would include all the Atari's except the PC, all the Tandy coco's--  Mac Portable, Apple IIc, Apple IIgs, Atari Portable, Commodore SX64, Daewoo IQ-1000, Mattel Aquarius, NextStation Color, Osborne 1, Spectravideo 328, Franklin Ace 1200, and others.  The MicroVax would be cool too-- but it would take up more room than all the others combined.

If this does happen and no one claims it, I'd definitely want to save the Acorn Electron.
