laser cutter malfunctioning

The left to right motion of the laser cutter is inconsistent. Belts have been adjusted several times.

The problem was reported before and the correction was the replacement of small rollers in the axis assembly. Anyone involved with that repair or knows where spare rollers are, please come forward. Let me know what you know about this and it will get fixed.

This was a result of overheating in the past I think, we need to make sure that outside fan gets a new power supply

I attempted to cut something yesterday afternoon, and the x-axis slippage was immediate. The cutter was only one for about 3 minutes prior before the cut started. Once it started, it would barely transverse in the x direction.

Outside fan power supply was replaced about a month ago.  Outside fan was replaced about two weeks ago.  Original overheating was the result of a software flaw which allowed the laser to cut multiple passes in the same area without a cool-down period.  As far as I know, this has not been fixed.

If the rollers are visibly out-of-round, Full Spectrum should ship us replacements for free/low cost.  If this is the case, take some pictures with oculus, and I'll send in for a replacement.

Did you check the small blue plastic box on the laser cutter table.  There are lots of little things there including the old lens and another longer focus lens.  I think the spares are there.

Rollers dirty but round. I ran several test jogs and then cut some acrylic. All went well then it started acting up. This maybe an overheating issue. I let it sit for thirty minutes then tired it up and all went well till I stopped cutting about 30 minutes later.

There appear to be two failure modes. Mode 1 is belt slip and has a characteristic slipping grind sound. The 2nd mode does not have the grinding sound but behaves as though the x-axis simply stops and restarts.

The heat sink is not firmly attached to the motor driver chip.  I'm waiting to hear back from FSL before I proceed with a fix.
