Definitely interested in helping out
name: Jeff Trespalacios
contact info: cell - 615.403.1785
availability: most weeknights and weekends are mostly open
language of choice: flexible and willing to learn something new
experience: Objective-C, C#, and Java application development, iOS and some Android
meeting frequency: I could see meeting weekly while getting ramped up might be handy and also would help to get people involved and going in the right direction.  If things were going smoothly maybe slowdown to bi-weekly if needed.

Hi.  A thread I started a week or two ago was talking about a game meeting night where we talk about games, techniques, hardware hacks etc and after the meeting have an open LAN game night.  I spoke with Aaron last night, and plan on putting something on the schedule for Saturday, 8/25.  Would you have any interest in folding your topic into that meeting, or do you think the material would take more individual attention?

Sat is bad for a LAN because Connect is that weekend.

Definitely more individual attention, although I will be interested in
joining your game meeting discussions. Also, I find it best to keep
the two seperated.

Currently, a lot what the group will do is still up in the air. I
would really love to see the group focused on one project that we all
decide upon. At the very least, coding sessions. Both of which by
themselves should take up a hefty amount of time.

Makes sense Mike, separate it is.  You can show up to make a pitch if you like.  I'd like to have some presentations before we start fragging, so that would be a good discussion topic if you were able to have some words prepared (or not).

Actually, if you can make a power point and speak in iambic pentamater that would be preferred....

j/k, impromptu is great.  I don't plan on preparing anything other than a general agenda.

Wednesdays. I work 12 hour shifts on every other day, sorry.
- N/A - haven't coded anything... yet.
- 6 year leader of a game mod project. Photoshop, Max, exposure to
a multitude of tools/utilities.
- Bi-weekly might be better to start with, establish a direction
then ramp up. Either works I guess.
- Am currently in the application process with Code Louisville, so
working on the coding part.
Some exposure to customizing Android, Froyo and earlier versions.
Might be wise to document or record the sessions, like KYOSS
started doing, in case interested folk can't attend
or end up missing a meeting.

I'll be sending them out today this evening. Also, I'll keep this post
updated as well in case we have any late joiners.

As it stands, we'll be aiming for something between Fri-Sun.

At 8, I will break to show everyone how Eve works, then we'll begin the TF2 stuff till we have to go... (after Midnight is NOT completely out of the question.... Heck, I may decide to pop up a midnight movie... we'll see)

Pat's revelation of 4-5 was news to me, LOL, but I guess some people will be showing up early to set up their rigs, and I would likely be there early to help as well.   I would think if you wanted to have a meeting in the 4-5 timeframe that shouldn't conflict with ours, many of your attendee's may be there for ours as well.

Yup…. I Normally game at home on the weekend from ~11-6 (Read that 2300-0600)

So, If I am going to be at the space, I’d be wanting to get rolling at 4ish… However, as stated before, we have up AND down… either works (Although, to be honest, I am not sure upstairs can support ALL of the gaming computers (“beefy” gaming rigs, in general, have 1000 Watt+ Supplies, + multiple Monitors….)

Saturday was voted as the best day to meet for everyone. 12pm and 2pm
were both tied with 4 votes each; with the last vote, I'd like to go
with 12pm.

That being said, if I can get everyone on board and a member present;
I'd like to shoot for a meeting this Saturday @ 12pm, 8/25/2012. If
not, then next Saturday @ 12pm, 9/1/2012.

I'll contact everyone this Friday by 8pm regarding if this weeks
meeting is still on. Next weeks meeting for sure though.

Please respond to this post or email me if you can or cannot make it

Mike,

I would be able to make this weekend far as I know atm.
Since that seems to be off the table though.... at best I am a
"unknown"
at this point for 9/1. I'm trying to figure out what Code
Louisville,
is doing schedule wise.

So I want to be there... just not sure if something higher priority
will rear it's
head in the inbetween space yet.

Initial meeting to meet and aim the ship's course sounds good.

Yeah, it might be hyperbole to say that all hands (or even nearly all hands) will be at Bernheim.  LVL1 has a lot of hands these days!

That said, you're all welcome to come out.

There may be some people that would be interested that are involved in the set-up also. That starts at 10 AM.

Hello everyone,

We had a decent turn out Saturday, with about 5 people attending.

The meeting highlights:
  • Being locked out for 30+ minutes until a member showed up, thanks Ben!!!
  • Getting to know everyone (name, previous game dev experience, job, etc...)
  • Discussing our favorite games
  • Discussing engines and frameworks that we've heard of or used
  • Few other misc things, I probably should've wrote this sooner so I wouldn't forget

For the next meeting:

You:

  • Bring one or two game ideas that you would like to create. You don't have to go in to much depth, anything that will fit in a paragraph should be fine. Also bring information regarding a game engine, framework, or library that you would recommend [ex. Source(engine), UDK(engine), Three.js(framework)]
  • Vote on top 3 game ideas
  • Discuss requirements for each game
  • Final vote, out of top 3 game ideas

Other information:

Check out the lvl1.org wiki site. See anything different? There's a Game Dev link under study groups!!!! http://wiki.lvl1.org/Game_Dev

Please add to it anything you find useful. Don't worry about structure to much yet. As we add to it I'll start doing some clean-up.
